Description
RetrolebenThink back to the time without smart-phones and a fast internet connection. What were you doing?
Now its omnipresent. Do you even remember how to send a proper letter anymore? Do you read the newspaper in the morning or on the toilette or just browsing the internet on your smart-phone?
This series shows character wearing an old CRT-monitor in daily-life situations where now modern technology is usually used . The monitor symbolizes the connection to the past, "retro-life". Also it looks funky as hell!
Hope you like it! MORE ON BEHANCE: [link]

Cool piece. Years ago I did work similar to this, but in pen/ink. Always great to see new/similar ideas.

No unfortunately, those were well over a decade ago. Now I concentrate on recycled art. Working a computer/design job destroyed my patience for pen/ink/cross-hatching.

Nice image with interesting lighting and posing interesting questions. One question I have is how the hell did you get thing on your head? CRT monitors are so dammed heavy.

Thank you!
I just had to unscrew a few screws to take the whole CRT out. I wrapped a blanket around it, and smashed first the rear part of it so it could fill with air. Warning vacuum!! Then I smashed the rest of it (except around the screen obviously) Then I put the screen back in the socket, put the screws back in and fixed it all with a lot of duct tape
Then I filled it up with foam, for maximum cosiness haha

I'm 53 years old. Not all that old, I think. When I graduated college, students who took computer courses had to learn one of the computer languages. But, no one imagined we'd each have a computer at home, let alone in our pockets! The changes bring both good and bad aspects to our lives. Mostly good, I think. I can only imagine what it's like for an 80-year-old. Nice conceptual, David.

Did you use the power cord to balance the heavy glass? haha kind of funny if you did. Those old monitors were monsters :]
