In my case yes, because I demand it in my contracts.

I have five castings, but only one painted and mounted on its base. With a wing span of eight inches it doesn't take up too much space.

wow thats sweet that you get to keep the scoulptures. Have you ever helped out some kind of movie buisness before? I mean lol, you'd be cool as a person who designs monsters for R.L. Stine or Steven King type shows. Or just character design in genneral...

Magnificent dynamism! Did you use a wire frame or is this an assemblage of individual parts?

Thanks! Yes, I used a wire frame. The armature wire I used was a variety of small guages you can find at any beadery store. This was neccessitated by the sculpture's size, which is only eight inches long.

So can that armature wire stand up to a kiln firing? Or is this an oven bake kind of clay? (I ask because I work with ceramic stoneware and would LOVE to work even more dynamically)

I work in - and cannot recommend highly enough - Sculpey Premo as your medium of choice. You can harden your sculpture in a common household oven at a low temperature of only 275 degrees Fahrenheit. You'll find that the armature wire holds up perfectly fine without any problems.
However, I cannot make the same claims for classic water-based, kiln-fired clay. I've worked with it in the past on large special effects-related projects where cheapness and ease of application were important criteria, but will not recommend it for the small-scale projects that are under discussion here.
Anyway, I hope this information helps you out. Until next time, take care.
Best Wishes,
Curt
