Description Let this passage by literary horror master, H.P. Lovecraft wash over you:

The Thing cannot be described - there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force, and cosmic order. A mountain walked or stumbled. The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own. The stars were right again, and what an age-old cult had failed to do by design, a band of innocent sailors had done by accident. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight . . . .

Thank you very much! I can't say that it'll save me when the Big C awakes from his slumber and reclaims mastery over the earth, but you can't blame me for trying!

I really like this take on Big C. Some great details in there Ive never seen anyone else apply to Cthulhu.

Thank you once again! I was worried more about this interpretation than any of the others since Cthulhu is so iconic. You can imagine how astonished and relieved I was when many Lovecraft fans embraced my take on him! Change can be good! More to come, so stay tuned to this dial for more Lovecraftian horrors . . . .

Youre very welcome, I am experiencing something similar with my Kaiju Revamp series. Im lucky that so many of my radical redesigns of popular giant monsters have found favor with the fans. I look forward to more of your work.

Thanks again. Some flak is expected when you do your own thinking. I mean, come on, we're artists. It's in our job description! It's just too bad we're not supplied with Kevlar . . . .

Mos of the depictions of Cthulhu are just an octopus over a human body... this one is a masterpiece, it really looks alien, original and suggestive. I love all the details, the claws, the mouth, the genitals. Congratulations!
Just one note: as far as I remember Cthulhu had wings, right?

Thank you so much! I'm really gratified that my design has been accepted by so many Lovecraft fans. It's actually an old design of mine dating back to about 1988. I doodled the basic idea in one of my many sketchbooks and didn't get around to actually executing a finished drawing until recently.

And yes, you're absolutely correct about the wings. Lovecraft described them as small and vestigial, which leaves open the possibility that they could also be interpreted as dorsal fins too. Problem is, the pose I selected largely obscures them, so I left them out altogether since it's unlikely that something obviously adapted to sea life would have equipment for flying!

Thanks again for stopping in. Take care.

This is undoubtedly one of, if not the most unique depictions of Cthulhu I've seen.

That is pretty darn epic.

You did very good with getting plenty of detail and creepy without cluttering Cthul with unnecessary stuff like most other adaptions. Also, his genital area is scary. Thank you.
I am happy to see a Cthulhu who has parts down there that aren't suggestive. Just weird.

Thanks so much for your kind feedback. I'm gratified to see how many folks like yourself are responding so positively to my interpretation. Frankly, I was hesitating on posting this one, but . . . . nothing ventured, nothing gained! Best wishes.

I really appreciate different takes on the very vague description given by Lovecraft. Lots of creativity. Yours is creative without abandoning the original idea entirely. I like that.

Bloody amazing work! The detail is superb. I would have never though about puting tubes or whatever they are down by the nether regions.

Many thanks for all your kind words! I keyed off of Lovecraft's well-known sexual phobias in designing our old pal, Cthulhu. Take care.

Terrific pose - packed full of energy and incredibly threatening! No looming stoic monolith this Cthulhu. Lots of excellent unspeakably alien anatomy going on in there too. Great work
