Hey all, there's been a project going through my mind for a while. I was thinking about putting together a comic for a while, and the timing just seemed right on this. Alot of folks have been asking me to explain a little about Ruby's history. Also, over the past couple years I've been working on Sonic, people have been wondering what it'd look like if I was to take control of my inks and colors. And I'm going to kill two birds with one stone, in a story I have total creative control over (read, blame me if it sucks entirely)This will be a mini comic, featuring a little back story on Ruby Echidna, in her current form, and longest standing form, and serve to explain some of her past. I pulled out some back issues of Sonic that I really enjoyed, and for the first time in years (I'm not kidding, years) I read through them. I want to capture the kind of story that I used to love reading. I'm fortunate enough to have my biggest artistic influences now as coworkers and friends, so there's no shortage of stuff I've gotten from Patrick, or old sketches from Manny, and the like, that I can also get some inspiration from.
We'll see where this goes. Without colors, this is page 10.

Hey, its nice to see you're not gonna let that tasty oldschool style die. I definitely see the same dynamic shots and carefully drawn panels of Mecha Madness here, fo' sure, and it makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

Sweet, panel work. I like the angled one, and all the detail you have going on. ^_^ I have the Sonic comics with your work in them, and J. Axers. I am a long time Sonic fan, and have most the issues (0-100 something). XD;; I sort of collect them off and on after issue 100 cause the story is odd right now...>>;;; Like...WTF Sally bitched slaped Sonic?! Infront of everyone too o.O That's not her at all....

I want to color and post them as I get them done. Since I started near the end, I'd better continue to work on the first pages and color them if I want to get some up in the right order, hehe

Do you still do work for archie? or did they cast you aside for more "seasoned" artists? :/
their loss in the end though. 
You did a great job on the inking, I wish I could even come close to this good.

I still work for them. At least, I signed a contract to. It's up to me to get on that and tell them I'm ready for more work tho, LOL

ah, but the question is, is it worth it? 
Is it true SEGA is considering pulling the license from them?

I have no idea. I want to say... maybe. I think Archie management will pull the plug on the original Sonic series first, which is a shame. Not to diss the Sonic X crew, but I'm kinda fond of the vast history... the good parts at least... of the regular book.
Continuity is a big deal to me, and I hope Sonic X throws in some depth. But I don't see another Mecha Madness, or Knuckles Mini Series, or something that held my attention like that, coming out of it.

then again, the original comic series should be pulled about 3 years ago and started fresh, it's been getting beaten like a dead horse for a while now. sadly.
they're trying to build new stories on a storyline which has covered just about everything, they're creating or running into plot holes left and right. Look at comics predating #50 and look at comics after #150, there is a definite change of story, attitude, and class the older ones had. That's just my two cents. *dodges flaming bricks*
To think about it, it should have been started into a new series after #50 they shoulda created something new, instead of stretching and abridging the same story over 100 more issues.
