I was debating on whether or not we'd have blood in the book a long, long, long time ago. Then Ian threw this in and I said "great!"Didn't want to overdo it because I have plenty of violent stuff under my belt and don't need it here. But it was important to establish, early enough, that we're not going for cute and fluffy all the time.

Heh, I can sympathize with your debate on whether or not to include blood. I asked myself the same thing when I was working on Sea3on , but in the end I decided it complemented the tone of the story. If you feel a little ketchup is effective for Sylvanna, that's good enough reason to include it. As for the comic so far, it's still very enjoyable. The characters are so well drawn and expressive. I like your shading technique that strengthens the split between light and shadow while still keeping the contrast clear. They could almost be cartoon characters. I also see one of the few sensible uses of a Lens Flare. Still looking forward to more.

Yeah, interesting that people weren't expecting that, but I guess I never made it entirely clear. The Avians trust in and have researched high tech stuff far more than their Bat counterparts, so a few of them have access to energy weapons.

Q's right - they're a sort of mix between technology and magic, so "energy weapons" will pop up quite a bit in the Avians' hands.
