Finally got around to reading this. After being underwhelmed by that side-story with Xixa, I'm happy to report that the beginning of this comic feels like a marked improvement. The scenario is explained more clearly and the pacing is more deliberate. I admire your layout of the '"Genesis" of Sylvanna and I can sense the legend of the crystal will play a larger role in the developing plot. Characters are established at the start with Bashu is the impulsive hothead and Zachary as the more mature individual. It will be interesting to see how they resolve the crisis with the Avian pilferer(s). I hope this comic continues to improve, Dawn!
Oh, one tiny gripe, I'm confused about the layout in this page. I imagine I'm looking down at the village from the treetops, but why do I see the sky where the ground should be?

Yeah apologies for the wacky angle - the bats are high up in the trees there. I'll get used to drawing the village as I go I'm sure. It bugs me too

No seriously I'm in the middle of almost completing my drapery rendering assignment and this pops up as a nice surprise to my break away from charcoal rendering.
LOVE the perspective on panel 2 - what a great way to show off how beautiful Sendra Village is, the colours make it all pop out so nicely. Speaking about the colouring here I really appreciate the harmony happening, it feels like everything synthesizes beautifully together.
The poses and expressions on Bashu and Zachary fit each panel very nicely - I adore that expression on Bashu on panel 3! Bluurrgh! Follow that up with a "Yeah! Time for some excitement in this village!" aka "Yeah! Time to kick some ass!"
Ha ha I was already imagining how this would turn out in CD format - I had fun voicing Bashu and Zachary on this page... Can't wait to see what happens next Dawn!
Also props to Ian on the dialogue, like GoL said it is coming along nicely!
