I got a bunch of my old Sonic comics out when I was at my parents' house over Christmas... Got me on a classic Sonic comic kick. I guess that's where this came from.For those of you who live under a rock, Ruby is my best-known Sonic fan character. I know, I know, as a once and former Sonic "pro" my having a fan character is quite ridiculous. But I love her ever so much, so you can shove it.
On the far left, we have vanilla Rubes - all-out superbitch and pain in Knuckles' side. After that is Hyper Ruby - this is her "true" super form. Then Mecha Ruby - when she has a run-in with a roboticizer, this is what you get. Finally, Chaos Ruby, who would have made an appearance in my New Mettle comic if I'd ever finished it. The idea was to have Ruby use Chaos Emeralds from the "normal" Mobius, which would screw up her transformation, not being from "normal" Mobius and all. Since, in that canon, she can't get back to her dimension, this would probably be her standard super form.

Huh, I never would have imagined Flynn or Yardley to be the kind of people who work on fan projects with others given that they are professionals employed by a large company. Even if they are paid I figured that they would stick to a contract.

Also, Sylvanna is an original series I came up with about a hundred years ago when Ian and I were both still Sonic fans. He took interest then, and we wanted to work on it together for years. Finally got the chance I guess.
Also, when ya gots bills to pay, you do what you're good at to pay 'em. By definition, a professional is someone who makes money doing what they do.

Oh I just adore Ruby.. I have a severe urge to draw her after seeing this.
I adore all the detail you put into Mecha Ruby, and I love how graceful Hyper Ruby looks.
I love her chest markings too.. really unique. <3
I'm all for fancharacters, they're fun! It's a shame people have to take them so seriously!

I certainly support fancharacters and going story crazy with them in the name of good old fashioned fun 
I hope I can understand colors better one day. You seem to know what kind of ambiance to go for and how to apply it depending on what you're drawing >< AUGH I wish my brain would get this stuff faster.

Hehee, it's cool, so was I. The other big thing? Never use straight neutral colors. Always hint at blue or red (or orange!)

Good ol' 1999 days. :3 I first saw her when I was 10, on Teamartail I believe -- or Tripod.com. I forget. ^_^ I remember thinking she was really in the comics and I had a few laying around, so I would try and look for Ruby. Teehee. Good to see some nostalgia. <3

I got the Sonic Comic Encyclopedia for Christmas this year (my friends love to push my nostalgia buttons) and it just got me itching to do old fanart... when, lo, I stumble upon Ruby art.
