Description Inspired by   wonderful image called Stitch Differences

Stitch from the original movie was beautifully characterized. Like we all know he started out as an evil little alien seeking anything to destroy, but once he met Nani and Lilo he had changed for the better. He has developed to a sibling to both sisters instead of a pet, and has relied on their acceptance and affection to belong somewhere in the world. Beside being the angel that Lilo asked for, he also symbolized the rage that Lilo felt within her since the death of her parents. Even though he was learning to become good because of Lilo's love and guidance, his presence had also changed Lilo for the better as well, making them both see that they needed one another to find the happiness they wanted.  Due to this, Stitch has become more mature realizing that instead of chaos and destruction, family and love was more important,  and has to protect them no matter what, in which became the new purpose in his life.

Stitch (series): Aside from his way off appearance to the original, this Stitch doesn't seem too bad in my opinion but there are a few things that did bother me a bit. This Stitch seemed to take a step backward in his progress of behavior, becoming a lot more defiant than in the movie. I felt like this Stitch did in fact act more as a pet/toddler than the smarter alien sibling we loved, like if he totally forgot the difference between good or bad. Of course, this was done more for the sake of comedy, which was kinda annoying at times. Also, It bothered me so much that this Stitch didn't seem to be very compassionate to the other characters as he was in the films. Whenever there was a serious situation, Stitch never sympathized for them, since he was too busy playing around somewhere else. I guess it depends on what episode you watch but one good example would be the Remmy episode. Bright side is, that we got the chance to see more of Stitch's strength and fighting here when he had to defend his family, and whenever he did misbehave he did eventually realize what he did and seek for Lilo's advice or do what he could to make things right.

Stitch (anime): nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope!! Not even going to start on this abomination, this one took a step WAAAAAAAAAY back to how the original Stitch is, well actually it doesn't even remotely act like stitch at all.

NOPE

Ranted enough on this puke excuse of a clone, only thing I would like to comment is the weird anime expressions he does, Eww nooo....

anime and disney does not combine (except kingdom Hearts, totally cool with that one.  Even though they too totally ignore Lilo's existence in Stitch's life, seriously WTF??!!).

Oh wow didn't even know they have another one. It's a shame that Disney keeps pushing Lilo away from Stitch.

In my opinion, this is my rating of Stitch's designs in appearance.

1. Original

2. Anime (looks closer then the series...) (I hate Yuna and Ai)

3. Series

I tried watching the Stitch anime once and NOPE, completely different compared to what came before. They even changed every voice actor for the returning characters!

I think the movie to series transaction can be easily explained - the the movie, Nani as desperately trying to prove she could be a good parent figure to Lilo or Child Services would take her away, and Stitch didn't really help matters till the end.  So tensions were high and the fear of their broken family shattering completely was always looming over them.  This caused the characters too mature quickly to deal with the problem at hand, as well as brace themselves for the possible negative outcomes - should they fail.
In the series, those conflicts are resolved and the kids could go back to being kids seeing as how the maturity was no longer needed - aside from where avoiding collateral damage is concerned, that is.  Yes, Nani was still struggling to find good work, but it was more in the slice-of-life sense than the do-or-die sense.

As for the anime version - ERROR!  ERROR!  ERROR! No records found.  What is this anime version you speak of?

(im a bit late here but oh well) the anime is called "stitch!" (yeah just stitch im not kidding), and its awful. it spits on the whole ohana message the original film tried to convey, they removed lilo and replaced her with some mary sue character named yuna, and they totally butcher stitchs personality (and good god the voices in the english dub sound terrible). i could go on but theres tons of reviews of this anime that could explain it better than i can

XD Sorry! XD

Allow me to clarify what I meant by "ERROR!  ERROR!  ERROR! No records found.  What is this anime version you speak of?", I was talking in the sense that I pretend it doesn't exist.

... I ... must be the only person here who's cool with all three... but hey... Opinions and such.
Seeing a few comments about him speaking too fluently in english in the anime, thing is Stitch is a super intelligent alien being, and the anime takes place YEARS after the original movie and series, so by then I'm sure he'd have picked up a simple human language

I watch the anime because it's hilarious to me. Not the show itself, the dubbing. It's so bad... and knowing that the guy who voiced Young Xehanort in KH DDD is the one trying to do Stitch's voice is like the icing on the ridiculous cake.

The anime is so... bad, though. Not only did they cut Lilo out of the picture in all but a singe episode, they also ignored everything that ever happened cannonically. All the lessons Stitch learned. All the experiences he had. His grasp of right and wrong. Even the content of the movies was pretty steadfastedly ignored, which I fine super strange, considering how popular Stitch is even now in Japan. They also made Stitch rythmless and tonedeaf... Which is probably the weirdest thing of all. He knew how to SHRED the moment he picked up a ukelele.

From a personal standpoint, I see where you're coming from.

I'll always treasure the films, yes, including Stitch Has a Glitch. His characterization and preentation was incredible and pretty heartwarming at times. He may be destructive, but it's his growing heart of gold that won us over for years to come.

I didn't mind the series so much, though I am aware of its flaws. I've had plenty of good memories from the show and I'd even go as far as to say it was one of my favorites back in the day. Looking back though, I'm beginning to notice a couple issues here and there, such as those mentioned with Stitch himself. Might be my personal tastes talking here, but it was never that big an annoyance outside of just seeing him act like a bigshot or brat time to time. But yeah, depending on the episode, he's got his good moments, and I think sometimes that tends to outweigh any past issues.

The anime however... meh. Never really saw it that much. At all, for that matter. So I can't really say much for it other than... nope.

Other than color wise it's not much of an eveolution. He's pretty much the same. Personality wise though not so much.

I guess Original Stitch is cringing because, although he hasn't looked yet, he can sense the horrors behind him.

I hate how the anime is about Stitch finding a new friend. Like what happened to Lilo? He would never abandon her for some new girl. I gave up watching after 3 minutes

You should do one for Lilo, considering she behaved significantly differently in the show to the movies and is like 35 years old in the anime (spoilers)

I prefer the one from the original movies...., I don't really like it when toons get a re-design....., but oh well.
Not to say I hate the Lilo and Stitch series because I do love it, but I also don't like the re-designs all of that much either.

in my opinion Stitch from the original movie is the best but i don't like him in the lilo & stitch series. i think he was better drawn in the anime. yeah, anime sucks i know but comparing the quality for me its the anime which wins.  at least i think he was cuter in it.

does anyone have a clue how old was Stitch in the anime?

in Japan advertisements, they make him too cute (not in a good way) in my opinion, but in the anime itself he looks the same as the series.

According to the anime he had an episode that celebrated his 18th birthday, but after Lilo's appearance that proves to be very inaccurate. Stitch is 5 years younger than Lilo, and the time he abandon her she was about 21. 4 years of Lilo's absence because of college plus another 10 years of Lilo meeting someone and having her child, he was about 27 or 28.

I completely agree that the anime is awful.

Reading your insight into the original movie was very interesting. Stitch being a symbol of Lilo's inner anger never crossed my mind. I'd like to know what your opinion on Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch now. It seems like the closest characterization of Stitch to the first movie...my only real problem with it was Lilo's character. I thought that was a little off, or maybe it was because I watched the animated series in my childhood. lol I still appreciated the movie anyway.
