thanks pyro-the-maniac! i tend to make up colouring as i go, so i don't really have much of a system to describe. with this one, once i finished colouring it i slid the hue and saturation etc settings in photoshop to give it the overall yellow tint.

Hmm, then I don't know what it is then. But all your pictures have such depth and detail in just shading and colours alone.
I only recently started colouring my art digitally, so most of it is a little flat and the shadows don't seem quite natural. I guess it's all about practice.
