Description
And so, once again, it is Easter.Danbuster wanted to come up with something original to bring all his close friends together to celebrate the occassion. Well, he happened to mention it to his family-friend and local scientist/inventor/mechanic Professor Albert Einspine, who came up with the very solution.
Being Jewish, it is at this time of year when the little grey hedgehog would celebrate Passover - which by the grand plan of the divine also coincides with the events leading up to the Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of Christ according to Christian belief. Einspine's beliefs agree with Danbuster's, because he happens to be what's known as a Messianic Jew - that is, he also believes that Jesus is the Christ.
Anyway, the arrangements were agreed on, so Danbuster, Frederick, Spencer, Einspine and Heinrich all came to mark the Easter occassion together, bringing along some of their own friends...
Danbuster pleaded with Retsubnad to coming along. To please his brother, the dark hare eventually agreed to socialise for once.
Frederick also suggested inviting the Rudderbucks (Leroy "Hydrex" & Pearl), so the otters also came along.
Spencer, of course, asked his girlfriend Jenny along.
And a good time was had by all.
Happy Easter!!

The speech that is said before the Passover meal.

Okay, well Einspine being the character of Jewish background, as well as the host, I guess it's natural he'd do the speech.

Is that why Resy eating the herbs is supposed to be somewhat embarrassing? I think the herbs are important for the speech. My only experience with Passover is a Rugrats episode: www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_6xOhβ¦

The joke there was kind of that Retsy, being a bit of a sourpuss himself, finds the bitter herbs taste nice for him...

Resty is a sourpuss? He seemed pretty nice in that rp.

He's a complicated guy. Over the years, he's gone through some character development.
Where once he used to just be a one-dimensional megalomaniac villain, he's grown into more of a sympathetic antihero who wants to get back at a world that has treated him cruelly, wanting the respect he never had as a child.
While he can still play the villain at time, he also has a deep-seated soft side to his nature.
Part of his motivation behind releasing Thoronraw from that freak-show was that very thing they had in common... the gryphon's backstory was similar to his own, "one chapter behind" (in the words of James Norrington, formerly Commodore)

Who's Thornraw? I'd set him free too. K.M. (my fursona) would as well and probably eat whatever humans had been attending the side show.

That would be this fellow.
And indeed, Retsy certainly meted out one heck of a punishment on Thoronraw's cruel handlers... a few lashes with a chain-lightning whip is not to be sneezed at!

Kinda reminds me of that scene in The Last Unicorn where the unicorn is captured by a traveling show lady.

SheΒ had other "mythical" animals too, but in reality they were just regular animals she had put a spell on to make it appear as if they were "mythical". Only the unicorn and the harpy were actually mythical. The unicorn set them free and the harpy killed the traveler woman.

Moral of the story...don't lock up wild animals. As K.M. the meerkat would say, "TheΒ bitch had it comin'!"Β (K.M. was kept as a "pet" and abused and when she could no longer take it, she ran away. Her owners would find her and bring her back, but she would just run away again and one day they just gave up and stopped looking for her. K.M. has run into them a few times but they no longer recognize her and K.M. prefers it that way. The "Critter Crew" is her family now.

I see...
As for Thoronraw, he lives with Retsubnad now, giving him his loyalty out of gratitude... though he's also something of a morality check-chain who would rather his Master gave up the whole "taking over the world" thing...

Just drop the hat and she should be fine. I see nurses, vets and the like wearing scrubs at the grocery store. Some people aparently like to work out in them and some hospitals make EVERYONE wear pink scrubs as a theft deterrent.

If you ever depict Jesus/God in your art do you depict him as an animal or a human?

I would probably depict Jesus as human, naturally

Well, they would taste good to someone as sour as Retsubnad...
But yeah, that was my own impression when we once had a Passover-style dinner one Maundy Thursday at our old church a few years ago...
Thanks! I like to have these guys around me.

heh, that's what our drummer does
we're a pretty small church (even without canceling out the elderly) so our jobs overlap it gets hectic sometimes one job required moving what can be estimated as 600 pounds of paper, sunday school books, etc. into a PT Cruiser. i think we surpassed the gross weight (maximum) trying to fit it all in

Well, he's one of my older characters who's developed a lot over the years - he eventually developed a Jewish side after his namesake Einstein (who had Jewish backgrounds, I think), but also some Christian beliefs encouraged through being associated with Danbuster (who has a naive but true and honest belief) and his other friends.
This probably means that of all my characters he is the most religious, since he follows Jewish rules where they don't conflict with Christian belief. He even still has vivid memories of his "brit milah" and flinches when he sees depictions in movies (such as with young John in "The Nativity Story)...
