Description
It's been months since I finished this painting! (The art class I was attending ended back in June or thereabouts.
Trouble is this painting was on an A3 sheet, so I had to scan it in pieces... as well as take Autostitch to it. And these last couple of days is not only the first chance I've had to do it - but the first time I've remembered to do it while I could!

Anyway, this painting was something I'd had in mind to do for some time - the home of Hydrex and Pearl Rudderbuck in the Mystic Ruins jungle/forest. And the last weeks spent in the art class with no other ideas provided me with an excellent oppurtunity!

After going through this book of jungle/rainforest photography, I finally came across the base-picture that I wanted - or at least as near as I could come to it, which has turned out to be ideal anyway. It was a photograph of a rainforest river and waterfall. After copying in pencil the part of the photo that I could use, my next step was to build on it with my imagination.
And finally, I spent the last few weeks I had in of the art class finishing the idyllic riverside home in watercolour paint.
Ah, what a life the Rudderbucks must lead out there. I envy them, living house like that - in a forest by a river, surrounded by nothing but wildlife... (far from the madding crowd, as Thomas Hardy would say) And with the train service from Station Square, and their speedboat, the Roaring Rapid, it's not as if they've cut themselves off from the world. They can still go downtown for anything they need that they can't get from the river or the forest.
