For 's Surf's Up Art JamArt Jam: Surf's Up (ENDED)
A day out at the beach for the Dan Clan, along with their friends/family members.
Danbuster and Retsubnad, prefer to stay on shore and watch; Wally remains with his Master, loyally serving drinks to the brothers; Spencer and Jenny just wish to relax...
Meanwhile, Thoronraw joins Frederick and his otter-siblings, Cedar, Cedric and Freda, in trying to catch some waves.

Hello Danbuster, I see you want an in depth review on this piece? Well Im glad to give you the in depth review as it is, and I do apologize if I do sound blunt in a few areas, considering how hard you worked on this piece, constructive criticism is advised here.
Vision) Fun fun fun in the sun! I noticed how bright and sunny this piece is and it's not every day the Dan Clan goes out for some summer fun here on the beach, plus as a change of pace I see that even the young gryphon, thoronraw has also taken up surfing and he's already caught this particular wave. While the other otters (and ferret) seem to get the whole surfing thing down to a science, even if one is suffering from a wipeout. The details on the surfboards look pretty plain yet unique to help distinguish from one or another. It looks good so far, as well as seeing the other chars of yours in summer wear.
Originality) Im giving this 4 stars for the originality in Spencer's, Jenny's, Dan's and Retsy's summer outfits. Although I take it the 5 individuals don't like to get their fur wet, at least they can still enjoy the beach regardless huh? I don't see anything wrong with that detail though I do wonder what kind of a drink Wally is offering to the hares? Looks like a martini of some sort...but THAT's how you enjoy a summer vacation in my opinion.
Technique) I see your use of flash and vectors really help make the colors very vibrant and eye catching, while keeping things simple and effective. The wave and water details looks pretty decent though I do spot a few areas where shadows COULD be added to enhance more depth instead of making the chars look like they were stuck on a flat background, but it'll do so far.
Overall Impact) 4.5 out of 5 stars! I honestly think this is one of your best recent pics here and I understand finding the motivation to do a detailed pic like this and keep going until it's finished is an uphill climb but i see your perseverance really pays off here. You did an excellent job here Dan.
Critique) Like I mentioned in one of the paragraphs, I could see where some things could be improved upon somehow, such as adding more shines and shadows in the areas to help enhance a 3-D plane as well as adding longer wakes with the surf boards and motion lines, as in case with Cedric here. But you did a good job so far, Danbuster, and Im proud of you! Keep up the spectacular danblasting danbusting job!

Indeed, I wanted to include a few characters to watch Frederick and his siblings - but figured Danbuster and Retsubnad should wear light clothes, being summer.
So naturally, Spencer had to be there and that was a chance for Jenny to take a little holiday.
I figured why not let Retsy and Wally have some time off as well - and let's face it, how often does one see a gryphon go surfing?
Of course, Wally would be waiting on the brothers - I figured it would be light cocktails (so some sort of martini is probably about right)
And of course, Cedric would have to be the one having a wipe-out...

A bath or shower is okay, but big lakes and seas... not so good...

Heh! I suppose having a tail or wings to balance / catch the wind would be quite helpful for surfing!
I've only ever tried it once... and the longest I managed to stay on a surfboard was, when the wind picked up and carried me off from where I wanted to go by like half a kilometer or something.
Luckily it wasn't blowing out to sea, though I had to walk back carrying the surfboard. 
Yeah... more of a web-surfer anyway.

Even Retsubnad seems more relaxed when he gets away from that stuffy old castle... and of course, Wally's just happy to serve him, whatever his needs.
I needed to get Dan and Retsy into summery clothes - though... otherwise they'd be melting on a day like that!
