Description
full view is really a must if you like bloodWell, i've been watching lots of samurai hardcore movies, with bloody scenes.. can you tell ? the thing is that a day ago i watched "zatoichi: the blind swordsman" and it was a visual orgasm.. i HAD to do something with the theme.. and here it is.
Quick vector piece, simple but it speaks by itself. I really don't have to tell you what happened there.. you can see it for yourself.
Done in illustrator CS 100% - little reference for thie piece, like my hand on the floor and the bridge.
thanks to ~z4sit4 & ~lady-alessandra for constructive criticism during the process.
hope you like it.
Here's a black & white version - i couldn't decide, i like them both

Simply stunning. The stark silhouette is striking, especially against the light, beautifully detailed background.

Wow...that must have been quite a battle. I love this piece, it just hits you in the face, and the contrasts between the foreground, middleground and background are fantastic.

the contrast of the red is super powerful, it turns the focus to the thought, 'what happened?' leaves a strong impact!

Whoa! How could I have missed this before? No matter, I'm enjoying it now...
It's just awesome. The contrast of the red blood against everything else is so strong. The writhing hand poking out in front of the door and casting the shadow on the floor makes for such a powerful image. This is just great on so many levels, but mostly on the level of awesomeness. Favorite for sure.

very awesome! but for some reason i thought the blood's color seemed too harsh.. you could've set the opacity down a tad...
then again.... my drawings wouldn't stand a chance against yours

A subtle drama. Sometimes the aftermath can tell so much more than the battle, wouldn't you say? I very much like the use of color, the sharp contrast of blacks to the fading whites, and of course our favorite hue of red...

Very awesome job...

Oh man, this is beautiful. the objects and figures almost look like paper cut outs, like a story book illustration. There's something timeless there. I love old samurai movies. The Lone Wolf and Cub flicks, those get ridiculous with their blood. I think you nailed both that classical feeling of old japanese styorytelling and drama, with that visceral explosion of blood. Great work.

I like samurai movies...though I generally don't go for the extremely bloody....but KB was really good....anyways...This is great! The faded misty background is beautiful, and the shadows are amazing. The red blood simply makes a powerful impact, though I don't think it looks overly gorey. Great job.

There are lots of samurai movies, i like them both, the story based ones, and the bloody ones. This work is a representation of both, because it has the blood part, but there's also peace and quiet (background).
thanks for the comment!

I like the "colored" version better, the blood stands out much better as the only color.
Here's to Zatoichi!

Oh yes! I've seen that movie and it's effects for the blood splatter and stuff was so different from any other samurai movie that I've seen. Just seeing this piece does remind me a scene where he whooped those clans.
