Description Hey all!
Whoa! America gets a new President AND a new DEAD DAYS on the same day?! What a time to be alive!

While I'm in no way comparing Barack Obama's road to the presidency to my road to posting this particular comic strip, I will say that just because this only took me a few hours (as opposed to Obama's 2 year presidential campaign) doesn't make the accomplishment any less special. Or historic. Mkay, maybe a little less historic.

Anyhoo, this comic echoes the realization and sudden pressure I felt a few years ago when I suddenly realized that, hey, people my age are getting all kinds of married. "Marriage? Are you KIDDING ME?!" I asked, "I just recently stopped playing with my Ninja Turtle action figures and I'm supposed to be thinking about MARRIAGE?"

*cough*

That Ninja Turtle thing was only a half truth.

Anyway, I'm sure LOTS of you are currently, or remember having this same exact moment of panic. My advice? Keep it cool. Go at your own pace... but risk losing your current girlfriend/boyfriend for ALL TIME. No pressure.

Thanks for reading everyone! I'm ramblin' now so I'll just tell you to tune in next time for more fun. Later!
-John

HAHAHAHAHA
Amazing as always, John.
As soon as I get to a scanner I want to put some of my latest work up, I've been working a lot lately.

Priceless ending!

It's scary how quickly these things happen. Someone in my college class got married last summer, when he was 21. I don't know exactly how old his wife is but I do know she's younger than him!

In school, when I was in year 11 (equivalent to 10th grade in the U.S I believe) there was a new student in our year (so, aged 15-16), and she had a one-year-old daughter. But that's another story.

I'm not so 'fraid of them getting married as making me be a bridesmaid.

I'm old enough now that I don't really care. It does always suck to lose a good friend just a little bit more because of though. They all start working to live. And it's way harder to pull strings when they got the "married" card. gf/bf you can call the bros before hos thing but spouse is a two of spades in a game of pasoy. *sigh*

/woot! Obama!

LOL. ~Vermillion42X and I were talking about that not too long ago - so many people around our age from high school have recently gotten married or started a family. It's really quite bizarre how it all suddenly seems to happen at once!

I know exactly. In high school, my group was myself, two girls and one guy. The two other gals in the group all got married last year....and I'm the oldest in the group.

I just love how Sandy seemingly appears out of nowhere when the word 'marriage' is uttered.

It's kinda like when I'm trying to eat a tuna sandwich, and god only knows why, my brother decides to call. By the time I get the bastard to hang up, the bread is soggy.

mariyaodessa In reply to Andre-chan [2009-01-21 21:14:26 +0000 UTC]

haha that's the same way how my mother always seems to call during the crucial scenes in the movies...frodo throwing a ring into the volcano, harry's parents appearing in HP, phantoms mask coming off in the phantom of the opera...and tons of others...

i learned the hard way to silence my cellphone lol

Haha, I know the feeling. When people around you start getting married - or worse, pregnant - you wonder what's going on with you really. Then they even get a job, their own place, babies, and you... don't. Where's my life??? (I'm getting one, though...)

Happy New President. Obama really seems like a really nice person, he's going to be a great president, at least better than... I'm not going to even write his name down. At least better than the other one.

deaddays In reply to Fotus9 [2009-01-21 15:42:17 +0000 UTC]

You were going to say me, weren't you? Alas, it's true. He'll be better at being President that I would have had my campaign gotten off the ground... or out of my garage. But only a TEESNY bit better.
-John
P.S. Just kidding, I know who you were going to say. Don't type his name.

Fotus9 In reply to deaddays [2009-01-21 15:44:50 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, I wouldn't type his name. Believe me, you would give a better president than Obama!

Maybe not...

Ha, yeah it was a tough layout that I wish I'da done a bit differently in retrospect, but it works well enough and I had already put WAY too much time into this particular strip. I'll do better next time, sir. Don't beat me.

My brother got married when he was 22 (now has 2 kids nearing 30), I'm nearing 27 and I still don't feel mature enough!

I'll probably feel mature when I'm close to croaking "Okay, I'm ready to get married now!"
