Description
Hey all! It's time again for a new "The Yearbook" DD strip! And what would a trip through being a child in the 90's be without a strip about the most controversial, brutal and down right epic console war ever?
The war between the SNES and Genesis was so crazy back then that it actually split up friendships! My buddy Eric was firmly in the Genesis camp while I was a budding little Nintendo fanboy. We sometimes when weeks without talking, especially when I was exploring the secrets of the Star Road in Mario World while he was doing whatever crap you did in those Sonic games. We simply had NOTHING in common during those times.
If only we had come up with the quick-fix solution that Brown and Blondie did! Then we could have wasted about $500 of our parents money and gone back to playing Excite Bike. Those kids truly were wise beyond their years.
Anyhoo, thanks for reading everyone! I was HORRIBLY sick all week, so it seems like FOREVER since I posted the last strip! Can't wait till next week when the Yearbook series continues in full force! Thanks for reading everyone! Happy gaming!
-John
P.S. Oh yeah, I forgot to add that if you're anywhere other than from the U.S., mentally change the word "Genesis" to "Mega Drive."

Some 14+ years later and I still have a working Nintendo. That's right, original Nintendo. My family has become a console afficienado because we have the original, SNES, original playstation, the second playstation, three different gameboy consoles, and a wii. We had a Genesis, and an Atari if I can remember, but through no fault of my own they were sold. I always loved going to my uncle's house to play Sonic, but there isn't any game existing, done existing, or planning to exist that can beat Mario and all his incarnations.
Just my, uh dollar I guess.
I just refound your comics by the way and I don't know why I ever left.

seriously where did the wide spread phenomena of blowing into the cartiges begin? what devil lay in my old nintendo promising more mario excitement if only i could blow hard enough?

Actually, I've made friends because of Nintendo. Of course, those friends only wanted be my friends BECAUSE of the Nintendo...but eventually that materialistic attitude slowly turned into actual affection.
I think. Having a Wii makes things much harder.

Perhaps the ultimate fanboy war. XD
Things have changed so much since then: Sony screwed over Nintendo with their Playstation, Sega dropped out, Microsoft jumped in, Sonic is in Brawl with Mario, ...... wow.

Hahaha... I did find what works with those crummy things: ... but I don't know the name in English! Darn, it's a kind of alcohol. Use a Q-tip thing, soak it in that liquid, and pass it on the... things inside the... game-thing. It does work!

They should totally come up with a bunch of nonsense predictions about the systems, that today we know the results for.

Obviously Sega Genesis.
And I don't know about these guys, but blowing into the cartridges always worked for me. It also worked really well on Gameboy games.
Great comic! It really takes me back.

What magic was it that blowing into the cartridges was supposed to accomplish?! I can't remember ever being taught to do that - it came naturally, a gamer's intuition. "I will bestow the breath of Man upon this machine, that it may know life."
