Description
**Delos Woodruff over at Art Patient gave DEAD DAYS a pretty bitchin' webcomic review! Click this [link] to check it out!**Yay! The new Yearbook is finished! I'm way more excited about it than you are.
I wrote this strip some time ago, and since then I've kinda dreaded it because I knew it was going to take some work. I mean more work than the usual guys standing around and being smart asses. I kept rearranging the shot angles in my head trying the maximize the readability and funny-ness. It wasn't until early this week that I finally decided upon the layout you see above. Damn. who knew funnies were so complicate?
I love this strip because as a kid, the monkey bars were always the bane of my playground existence. While I wasn't quite "chubby" per se, I did have a tummy. That coupled with absolutely NO upper body strength made things like the monkey bars or the rings you swing from a physical impossibility! So bothered was I that a few years ago, I returned to my childhood playground and vindicated myself by completing those monkey bars. Sure I was now tall enough to touch the ground while I did them, but whatever. Vindication is vindication.
Anyhoo, enjoy the strip, friends! Part 8 (the final flashback) will be up next week with a goofy finale and you won't wanna miss that. Thanks for reading!

Ha! Screw that - I always climbed on top of the monkey bars. I crossed them the right way once in my life, and then climbed on top for the rest of it.

Yeah, I never saw the appeal of the monkey bar. Or that metal bar that us girls were expected to hang upside down from (humiliating in a dress or skirt). I think such playground equipment was some strange cold war Soviet design, intended to make little tank soldiers out of all of us (well... those of us without the baby fat)

The elementary kids near where I live call their playground, "Ninja Warrior."

I had trouble with the monkey bars, too. I don't think I ever completely made it across them. Instead, I just climbed on top of them.
Great comic, as usual.

finally. A comic I don't need a prescription for! I rocked those bars! yes! and I was totally a chubbers. I also rocked cherry bombs.
course that was then. Now my arms get tired even when my feet are on the ground! and the callouses! ouch!
I conquered my fear of jumping from the swings tho. Bent 'em over and made 'em my bitch! yeah.

Monkey Bars were the best. Even more fun if you fell.
But I only fell if I was screwing around too much.
Oh man, stuff you remember from childhood.

By the way, it's spelled "per se".
....someone had to say it.
And I always did love the ring swings.

*laughs* That's great! When I was a kid it completely threw me whenever I saw someone actually make it across those things. I'd always thought monkey bars were some impossible torture device the teachers used to mess with our heads.

I didn't have problems with monkeybars, but several years ago while I was babysitting some kids at a local playground, I had realized that I just couldn't swing around as well anymore.

Monkeys gained my respect after I failed at the monkey bars.

Accursed monkey bars, indeed.
I reently went back to my old elementary school, and those things were at forehead level.
Sure, I'm abnormally tall, but it still made me feel like I blew things out of proportion.
