Description The Gist: Democrats want Democrats in the office. Republicans want Republicans in the office. No matter what. It doesn't matter whether, for example, a Democrat would be better for the job, the Republicans want their own in congress and VICE freakin VERSA.
Point is, we should stop voting according to our parties and start voting according to what's good for our country. I'm pretty democratic, but if I saw a kick ass Republican leader that was gonna put shit in order, I'd be all for it. Point is, I'm democrat because that's who I tend to side with most often, NOT because I wanna follow them to my grave. No one should.
We've created little cliques here that scratch their own back and refuse to admit when the other party has a better candidate. We need to start doing what's best for the masses, not our own asses. Catchy slogan? I think so. Later guys. Thanks for watching and reading.

What would be good for the country would be less federal government. I don't need some shithead in a suit telling me what's what. That's why I am a Republican. What's mine is mine. I'm not gonna work four fuckin' months outta the year just so a crackhead doesn't have to work for his blow.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I'm flaming republican: I come from the bluest county in the bluest state. But, I hate it when people will agree with anything JUST BECAUSE their party does. IE: I believe Gay people should be able to marry. You know, whatever makes them happy. The republican party doesn't agree with me, but I don't care, because though I agree with most of their ideals, I have my own free thought.

Thank you for illustrating this point, as it has been bugging me for some time. Sometimes I think I should become a republican independent.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!

Yes I am the Lion and I agree we need a third party too... I hate the all for one attitude there is in the USA. It's either all or nothing for both parties. Well what if I'm not? What if I am a bit of both? Both a bit liberal and a bit democratic?

This is brilliant.

Righteous, I'm with you all the way as far as the political parties are concerned. They've become little more than a bunch of gibbering children fighting over control of the sandbox. Just another testament to how much we love to slap labels on things and people, it makes it a whole lot easier not to think. Anyway, all social commentary aside, this is a great piece. You've got a very smooth style going for yourself. Keep up the good work!

I couldn't agree more! I too have found myself increasingly disgusted with the way partisan politics have turned into a spectator sport in our country. These days, people pick a "side" and tend to stick with it, twisting everything they see to support their arbitrarily decided viewpoint. That is SO FRIGGIN BACKWARDS! People should look at facts first, and THEN make a descision, not make a descision and then treat facts like attacks!

You find so much demonizing and just plain stupid propaganda these days from both the left and right. Democrats who call Bush "worse than Hitler" aren't just wrong, they're also giving other democrats a bad name. In addition, Republicans who call anti-war protestors "unpatriotic" are so caught up in their own viewpoints that they have no idea what our country is about. I myself lean towards the left, but I would much rather have a discussion with an articulate, well-informed Republican than a hyperactive, ignorant Democrat who just wanted to jump on the Bush-bashing bandwagon.

I think the problem may stem from the very party system itself- because we have to register under a party name to vote for candidates in that pary, we are automatically seperating ourselves into groups, and often this descision is made simply based on one's family or community biases. We wouldn't be in such a prickly pickle if everyone in the world stopped for a moment and said, "You know what? Maybe I'm not right about everything. I'm going to listen to the other side for a minute." I'm not going to pretend I know what the solution to all this is, because none of us really do. But you definitely hit the nail on the head with that one, Rios! Nice to see some people these days actually think before they vote.

Kudos!

It would be more politically poignant if you put the eagle there instead of the lion... But wise words, my friend. It's a fact that should apply to any country in election time.

The truth is alot of these politicians (but not all of them) are just looking at how to make life better for themselves rather than the majority. Also, many people assume that if we agree with one thing that one party says than we immediatly have to support them 100% no matter what some of their other policies may be.

Me? Non-partisan, whoevers best for the job

and finally a quote from the king of Anger, Lewis Black
"What's the difference between Democrats and Republicans? Democrats blow and Republicans suck!"

politics make me angry, thats why i try to stay out of them as MUCH as possible...being angry all the time is unhealthy...
