Description
Happy Day Everyone! It's Sunday again and time for a new strip from yours truely. I know, I know, "Big Whoop" right? But it IS a big whoop because DEAD DAYS is TOTALLY NEARING IT'S 400th strip! Crazy! 400 strips? Doesn't that make you, like, a granddaddy in the webcomic biz? Nah. Especially since I'm still looking forward to hitting my 1,000th strip. Now THAT would rock.
But anyhoo, today's strip deals with a subject very near and dear to my childhood heart: selling damn candy. I grew up in a very underprivileged community with a school with hardly NO FUNDING for stuff. So what'd they do? They sent us out selling candy every year (maybe twice) to fundraise. But me, I didn't know what the hell I was selling it for. Alls I knew was a won a backpack for selling candy last year, and this year has even BETTER prizes! Gotta go sell that candy!
Plus, THEY GAVE YOU A BOX OF CANDY! Whenever I wanted candy, THERE IT WAS. In my room! A whole BOX of it! Awesome. And I knew whatever I ate, my mom would have to buy. And it's wasn't like at the store when she could deny my candy requests. Hey, it was eaten! Nothing she could do about it but gimme the buck. Good times.
Anyhoo, thanks for reading the new strip folks! Just a few more Yearbook strips left, so stay tuned for more flashback goodness! Be back soon! Gotta keep chippin' away at that 400!

ahaha, the fact that he called the kid ugly at the end was what gave this comic the final push into my favourites.

I remember once, in 7th grade, I spent two months eating an entire case of peanut M&Ms in my room. Sure, I was supposed to sell them. But it wasn't MY money.
I told my mom that I lost the 'money' on the day that it was due. I was a terrible person. But at least I've got that off of my chest now.

Haha, I like that confessing a childhood crime on DA makes it automatically alright. What is this? Confession?

Oh, those were the days! (Nearly) Free candy whenever I wanted. Caramellos and Hershey bars just a breath away. And, when the school system switched vendors, boxes full of Skittles and Starbursts. It was a sugar junkies best friend. = )
I never got bikes or walkie-talkies for selling candy, though. All my school ever gave out was a puff ball with googlie eyes and sticky feet. If we sold a crap-ton, we got the one with a baseball hat or one dressed as Superman. This lasted straight through High School. = P

What was really good was my family was involved with a local kid's sports group called Willimantic Midget Football. Not only did we do the candy drives for that (I never did win anything), but all the left over candy found it's way back to my house.
Think of it as... a "sweet" victory after hauling candy around for a cheap school system. = )

Haha, poor kid. He goes out of his way to not only sell candies, but to even admit the honest truth, and gets nothing in return. That's life, huh?

I'd pony up just because it'd be easier than going to a store for some candy.
