      Chapter 6: Close.

     The next morning was just a regular morning for me. I got dressed and ready for the day and I decided to have a little picnic since the weather was perfect. I headed toward Cream's house to see if her and Vanilla wanted to come but when I got there no one answered the door. I looked through the window and didn't see anyone there.

Amy: Awww man, I really wanted them to try my sandwiches.

    Rouge was too busy, Blaze and Silver weren't there, Shadow's all the way up on ARK, Tails wouldn't be interested. I didn't want to ask Sonic, or Sally. Espio, Vector and Charmy were busy which is surprising. That only left one person, Knuckles.

  I headed to Angel Island and I saw a sleeping red echidna next to the Master Emerald. I couldn't get on Angel Island, so I grabbed a small rock, aimed it at Knuckles and threw it high. To my surprise it actually got him. He woke up and rubbed his head and looked around to see who threw the rock, he spotted me, smiling and waving high.

Amy: HEY KNUCKLES!! You want to go on a picnic with me?!
Knuckles: Alright, I'm coming!

  Knuckles' stepped back a bit and then jumped off Angel Island and started to glide down to where I was. When he landed he gave me a big smile and we started walking.

   (Knuckles P.O.V)

   We didn't walk far but I took her to a place where we could have fun at. It was a big field where the flowers were new and the breeze was cool and relaxing. I helped her set up the picnic and we started eating, and talking. Until she had challenged me to a race. I raced against her and she was laughing while I started to chase her. We kept running and it turned dark out, the moon rised up and it was shining down on us. We took breaks here and there from running but we continued to chase each other. When I was chasing her one last time, she stopped and I crashed into her, we both fell on the grass, when we landed fireflies came out and shined. I was ontop of Amy, I was going to get up but when I looked at her blushing, she was very beautiful under the moon. Her jade green eyes shined, and her cheeks were a rosey red color.

(Amy P.O.V)

   I saw something in Knuckles that I never saw before. It was bright, and clear. Even though he was ontop of me, I didn't push him off or anything. I just stared into his eyes, I felt his heart beating hard like mine was.

(Knuckles P.O.V)

  The wind blew gently, I moved Amy's bangs out of her eyes and smiled. I felt hypnotized, I came closer to her, our lips were 1 inch apart, I wanted to kiss her so badly. But I don't know how'd she react. I stopped myself from getting any closer, I got up slowly and kissed only her forehead. I helped her up and we looked at each other blushing.

(Amy's P.O.V)

   After that moment we packed up everything in silence. He took me back home. It was quiet out and only crickets were making noise. It was 10:00 at night. I held the empty backet as we walked. I felt something so pure back on the field. I loved it, so much. But once we got to my house, I stopped infront of the door and Knuckles' was right beside me. I looked at him, he had an expression on his face that I couldn't figure out. I opened my door and put my basket on the side and looked back to Knuckles.

Amy: Thanks, for everything.
Knuckles: Your welcome.
Amy: Good night Knuckles.
Knuckles: Night Amy.

   I was about to go back into my house, until Knuckles put his hand on my left cheek and he leaned in and kissed my right cheek, then left. I blushed while I saw him run back to Angel Island and jump into the moonlight. I smiled and went inside and went to sleep after a heart pounding day.
