Description
I did up two versions - Daylight and Overcast. I'm curious to know what your guys prefer? This is the first ever Anime I saw. I remember walking into Rogers Video in Grade 7 and seeing this crazy cover of Kaneda holding this massive weapon and his bike. I had to grab it just from the cover alone. I have to admit, the violence was hard to take in at that age but I was immediately desensitized after watching it a few hundred times!
Tetsuo and Guts ugh!
Enjoy!

the overcast version is better. i think it think the neutrals go with kaneada's posture. also this captures a the calm atmosphere after the chaos as shown in his posture.

Really. I'm not surprised. It's americanized. You know Will Smith is playing Old Boy right? We'll see how that turns out.

yea whenever they make americanized versions theyre always bad. i read that like leonardo dicaprio of all people is going to direct it or produce it or something and zac efron is supposed to be kaneda (although with an americanized name) and its supposed to be in like neo new york instead of neo tokyo. so yea it sounds like a huuuge disappointment
i read that a while back about old boy. it was incredibly sad to hear that. i own the movie myself on dvd and every time i imagine will smith in that role it makes me shudder. he already butchered the roles he played in i am legend and i robot so now he'll probably ruin old boy too

I relish this peice more than the more lushly colored daylight version, personally; because it's more accenting of Kaneda's personal emotional turmoil as he considers punching a tunnel through his closest friend with that oversized laser wrapped in his hands. however the daylight one is more attentive to one the premise Akira's most prevailing aspect: it's a sci-fi action story with character's with private emotions that are constantly juxtaposed with the flamboyant, sometimes hilarious madness going on around them. I mean, Akira is inherently a comedy-jammed story. The character's stoke that, Kaneda especially.

yyyyeah, that said, I should've proofread it a little more. Essentically what I meant to say (prior to the run-ons) was that Akira is first and foremostly a viciously flamboyant sci-fi premise. One not above a little junky slapstickery. Despite this the premise never comes at the cost of the characters: but the same goes for the flip end of the discussion, becuase the characters' personal concerns are never so emphasized that the premise takes itself too seriously.
The main character's typically internalize their concerns rather than verbalize them; it usually only the side character's that lame the premise by boorishly handfisting all of their emotions and outrage.

for some reason i like this one too cause even though the other one is bright, this one shows the emotion and destruction all around

whenever i've got two different things going on that i like, i usually meet myself half-way and find a way to combine the two for a compromise.. heh.
can't make up my mind too well here. i think i like this overcast one best.. the overall mood of the colors match better - pretty much what the dudes above me are saying. although i do kinda wish the red popped more on this one.. but not as much as it seems to pop in the other one.
sick stuff bro. lovin it.

Lol I do that too but for some reason meeting halfway gave it a bit of a muddy green tone which didn't really work but thanks for the advice. I'll try that next time. Much agreed on the mood of the overcast.
Thanks again!
