finished this illustration of Samus Aran, had to draw her again to celebrate the reveal of two new metroid games! I absolutely cannot wait for Metroid Prime 4!Samus' Varia Suit is always fun to draw and the colors were pretty relaxing to work on. next I gotta sketch Zero suit Sammy =w=

Samus is back *2, and I gotta say, what a way to celebrate her return, and one that captures the feeling of Metroid to with the dark background indicating she's alone, with her in a pretty cool action pose(even if it does look a tiny bit uncomfortable, at least for me, and it's how the legs are) while surrounded by Metroids. The detail of her suit is pretty much spot on(and unless I'm mistaken, that's the Prime 2/3 Varia suit isn't it? At the very least you used that as a guideline?), especially the glow effects on the visor, leg bolts, hand spot, and even the little lights on the shoulders. On that note, the glow on the metroids are also very nice touches. The perspective shot is nice(with Samus and two metroids being the focus while two more slowly come closer but their far away so they're a bit blurry, and that's really nice), the shadows are very well done, the choice to have the closest metroid be in an attacking state is a nice way to add an action dynamic to the piece(seriously though, Samus should stop shooting at off screen stuff and focus on what's in front before she get's killed), and the armor has this faint reflection on it, like she really is in a dimly lit room(which I assume was the intent in which case well done). And then of course, there's the fact there's an actual butt plate. It's an interesting choice and even though there's no actual butt plate on any of the suits, you did pretty well in making it look like a natural part of the suit, so kudos. Thanks again for the detailed critique! Yes, I did base this off her MP 2/3 Varia suit as its my favorite design of it. I admit, poses are not my strong suit and I was trying to mimic a pose she did in one of the MP games, just from a different angle. The scene I also set up is just to show how overwhelming fights in the metroid prime games can be (especially against metroids and on higher difficulties) and that it's tough to get through battles without taking damage (which is about to happen to Samus here)
lastly, the "butt" on the suit is just an exaggeration because I do have a penchant for booty shots and I wanted to show the Varia suit with a feminine look (I even slimmed her waist and appendages to achieve this) this is all just generally speaking and I'm absolutely thankful for you taking the time to critique this. I will definitely try to work on poses for future works.
