Scary huh? Hope so.Mistakes: The screw isn’t as straight as I want it to be. Hands.....FUBAR!!
So, this was a request for , as she was the ultimate winner of this year’s First to Comment Race. She requested that I draw her Mummy Dress, choice of character was up to me (I chose hers). I’ve been eager to draw it for myself since her redesigning of it. As you can see, I’ve added my own detailed touched to the dress, ultimately making her look more sinister. And I’ve also included a history lesson with this about Trepanation (more on that later). During the coloring process, I decided to make everything black on the dress leather (with the exception of the cloth at the bottom) and the red normal cloth. Realizing that, I reversed the red and black on the arms (you notice it if you look at this one and UNF’s design). I also added 4 piercings below her right eye and markings on her left eye. I also added tattoos on her shoulders. As a neat little touch, I added the screwblade. What inspired that? Here comes the history lesson.
On the piece itself, I tell the story about Trepanation. It reads, “Trepanation: Once used by Ancient Egyptians, it is the practice of drilling a hole into one’s skull, thus releasing the evil spirits within someone. However... there were no such things as anesthetics in those times.” Heh that must suck. It was a common practice and was used to relieve certain sicknesses (no lie, but damn that must hurt). Today, people still go through Trepanation (purposes more along the lines of that of a spa), using anesthetics, of course, and a surgical drill, to which the Ancients used a hand blade and a makeshift hammer. I took the concept of the hand blade and the surgical drill and mashed them together, and there you have it, the screwblade. Here is the image reference I was provided with. [link]
Oh, and those that get Trepanned (yes, it’s a verb now) say they feel better after getting their head drilled.
Again, this was a request for

Trepanation is definitely a scary thing. It's cool she's holding a screw. Neat outfit she has too. I like how the it looks a bit brick wall-ish. She looks nice and unpredictable. Very intriguing. ^^

Loverly! Mmhm, i love the style of having the larger, more transperant image behind. Gives a nice flow!

Thanks. I usually have the character's face zoomed in on the background. But I instead decided to zoom in on the screwblade to lend itself to the name of the piece.
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate it.

I'm speechless....it's beautiful. You captured the image of the dress perfectly....
I'll name the things I like most about this picture. But I'd probably go on forever if I didn't limit myself. XD
First, I really like the glow and shine of the black material. I also like how you made it more detailed then my old original concept.
Secondly I like the kind of brick design on the skirt part of the dress! It seems to glow with the black material and lighting affect.
Oh and the expression of the character is what makes this picture so dark. I love the details you added to it.
All I can say to this is: THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^___^

Interesting design, and I also like the use of ancient Egyptian culture. Gothic and Egyptian themes work well together. Good work.

Strangly enough, this isn't the only Egyptian themed work I have in my arsenal. I have one ready for submission. Probably tommorrow I'll release that one.
