Description
THIS MODEL HAS BEEN UPDATEDThe latest Large Defense Machine produced by SC-77, Landslide was design to be faster and lighter than the previous 3 mechs.
Its primary design was as a advanced recon vehicle but due to the limitation of needed parts and abundance of others the landslide ended up as more of a mix of heavy armor and speed. although not as mobile as intended it still proved useful, having more armor than either the annihilator or the avalanche but also much faster than the devastator. foregoing any large arm mounted guns SC-77 saved enough weight to use some higher power servos, which didn't have enough torque to run
the heavier LDM's giving it a much higher running speed
The Landslide is equipped with dual Longbow missile launchers which have an estimated 45Km+ range, and a long-range prototype hardlight cannon. it also has to machine gun batteries on the lower torso and as well as a large repeater gun on the upper right.
Tech-wise the Landslide is equipped with stealth coated materials making it invisible to most tracking systems, also in what some would consider irony the mech was painted lime green due to the fact that the aliens don't see color the same way as perceived by synthetics. SC-77 determined lime green was the darkest color he could reproduce with the options at hand.
The name Landside came from a testing run for the leg servos. While testing the speed over unstable terrain a sudden stop caused about 100 tons of concrete, metal sheeting and rebar to slide down the street. Amazingly the pilot managed to keep the mech undamaged by "surfing" the urban avalanche to safety. This lead to SC-77 naming it "Landslide" although many of the pilots have come to call it the "Green Gremlin" for unknown reasons.
NOTES:
said the heck with it and posted it with the part missing
The basis for this design was that I thought I had lots of lime green Technic parts lying around that needed to be used, after designing the cockpit mechanism and most of the legs I discovered I was wrong, instead of swapping out to a different color I simply gave my self a different challenge. To design it mostly out of system parts. So I raided the power miner stash for green parts and this is the result!
The design includes the reverse exit cockpit I originally intended to use on the avalanche but dropped to to space requirements, this time I designed it for a minifigure, which proved much more practical
I wanted to use bigger missile cones on the missile pods but had difficulties finding enough in a color I liked. I might still design it later and order the necessary cones.
In actuality it is taller than the devastator, depending on leg posture, but the lack of arms makes it much lighter

It's when I see things like this that I realise just how much I suck at MOC'ing .
Impressive mech!

If you look close enough at the missile pods you will notice they are not symmetric, they are supposed to be....
