Description The M1 Adaptive Tread Base Abrams was developed in 2078 the advanced computer systems and onboard AI reduced the required pilots to two. Only a few were built initially but when the robots declared war in 2081 they were mass produced as the army's main battle tank. Sadly since the humans lost the war it was the last version of the Abrams tank used in combat

Mass: 64 tons
Speed: 50 Mph (on treads)
Speed: 15 Mph (on legs)

Armament:

The tank is equipped with a 205mm main canon, a 14.6mm machine gun mounted to the side and a twin-fire missile pod mounted to the other.

NOTES:
I touched up the platting around the legs extending it on top of the treads and adding to the plating in between
I also moved the barrel ever so slightly into the center so I could design some better plating next to it to help it fit into the platting around it
lastly I added a trophy system to either side of the tank to add filler to the flat side as well as updating the machine gun with an actual M240 machine gun that I bought at the Brickfair I went to recently
As always questions and comments are always welcome and encouraged!!

Are there walking tanks in there? I played one or two but never got very far

Yes, there are. Those things they call "Metal Gears" in the series are (mostly) all about being bipedal tanks/units. The bottom right form of this tank of yours here strongly reminds me  of a certain gear from the newest installment (Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain). The one I mean is called "Battle Gear" and looks like this here: img12.deviantart.net/cbc6/i/20…

Other good examples should be Metal Gear Zeke, Metal Gear Rex and maybe the Shagohod, if you wanna look up some of them. Maybe they give you some new inspiration . (some other Metal Gear go a bit far away from being a "tank" tho, like Metal Gear Ray)

most of the ones I've seen weren't the tank designs, I may look up some of those if I do another similar build!
I'm thinking about redesigning my big red tank. Not really any time soon though

Could you make instructions for this? (Or atleast the tread unfolding mechanism)

I have recently considering uploading this to LEGO Ideas, if you want to wait I will probably be posting the updated LDD File when I finish the design improvements along with it
if you just want the legs though I can send you a base model of the leg system without the armor plating attached to it

either way if you use the leg system from my file on a post I would appreciate it if you would credit me unless you alter the design in a fairly major way

(altering the hinging mechanisms or something other just than addling your own plating and top section)

id just like the leg design, it was a little hard to see the parts well and i ended up spending hours searching for the wrong peices
(If id use the leg design id probably wont use it on anything ill upload regardless, but ill still credit you if i do)

drive.google.com/file/d/0BytmL…
ended up with extra free time
I have updated the leg hinges recently so I put old one on 1 leg incase it works better with your design (the new one requires a top plate to keep it stable)
if you have anymore questions feel free to let me know

How flexible are the legs?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deadpool7100 In reply to GinkoWeed [2015-05-24 05:55:29 +0000 UTC]

not as much as it could be, the plating on the sides restricts outward movement and only lets it go down so far (the foremost leg is at both extents) the body design also prevents any upward movement
the AMAP 670 range is much better but the weight is just as restrictive

GinkoWeed In reply to Deadpool7100 [2015-05-24 21:02:52 +0000 UTC]

Ah, well, still pretty neat. Perhaps making one that's in between the sizes would be better?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deadpool7100 In reply to GinkoWeed [2015-05-24 22:54:46 +0000 UTC]

The joints them selves are just as good, I just need to change the size of plating on sides or something
Maybe make it hinge from the legs
