I still work with GIMP even though I have Photoshop, lol. Not because of any superiority, or even a sense of superiority, I've just been working in GIMP for several years and am already learning 3D modeling, I don't have the time or energy to learn two new programs at once.

But what I do for GIMP is just look up tutorials, follow them, and then try to figure out what exactly each step does so that I have full knowledge of the tools or methods used and then I can apply them to something else, should it happen to be a tool or method I need.
