They were trained to be assassins, if they were found it was game over for them. Don't think that they could take out a samurai, for it was quite the reverse.
What I'm trying to say is the ones who you see in the movies and games aren't even close to the real thing. All they were was assassins, if they were caught it was the end of the line. They could never run on water, never jump from tree to tree, never fall a great distance a survive, never fight head on. They were stealth, get in find your target, kill him, get out without anyone noticing period.
