Personality: Ravtuk is the supremely-powerful Son of Oreogus, the Emperor of the Precursor Empire, and brother to Lighsen'tor. Ravtuk lead his whole life in jealousy of his brother for the praise he felt he deserved from his father Oreogus. But Ravtuk's own inner anger, hate and rage is what originally forced Oreogus into this awkward position with his son. As such, jealousy is Ravtuk's greatest weakness, and is known to get rather irritable when things are not going his way. Despite this, he will wait a long time and still persist until victory is his. Unfortunately, Oreogus had always been too busy to have a good relationship with his sons, so the two were often left without a parent with them due to the death of their mother.
Due to his experiences and warped sense of self, Ravtuk is all powerful, reckless, murderous, tyrannical, raving, and altogether, mad. Ravtuk will never stop his quest for unlimited power and glory until he has all under his control, and he will never accept his place in the universe until he is on top. Ravtuk believes he is destined for greatness, and boy is he ready to make sure you know it.
Long before the Precursors were exposed to Alchemy, Oreogus raised his sons to be champions who travel to distant galaxies and worlds, razing them and conquering the vast reaches of space, quelling rebellions and forcing all into submission. Ravtuk took a form of sadistic delight in these wars, but Lighsen'tor did not, and instead always attempted to use violence as a means of last resort, preferring peaceful solutions to problems. Ravtuk gained a reputation as a terrible demon and a great warrior, but still failed to get the recognition he wanted.
When Ravtuk was punished often for his shortcomings, Lighsen'tor was as well whenever he failed, and this led Ravtuk to believe that both he and his brother were mistreated. Oreogus, whilst doing his dealings with interplanetary affairs, conceived two new children, both daughters, Ravtuk responded negatively to this, knowing that this was only going to make time with his father less accessible. Ravtuk would however, come to love his new sisters- Tamnigul and Quirithan, and they would become neural physicians.
One day, Ravtuk and Lighsen'tor were deployed by Oreogus into the deep depths of the Milky Way Galaxy to hunt for the Shards of Prominus, Prominus being the Cosmic Being that had supposedly created all things in the multiverse, including life, and had a brother named Unikrus, who was the Chaos needed to destroy what Prominus had created when it grew too much. The Shards of Prominus would help him reenergise the powers of the Progenitor, the most powerful artefact in existence and the very thing Prominus used to create all things, create the Forerunner Paragons to help him defeat Unikrus and his Heralds, to give life and to maintain the balance of all things.
As the Progenitor was used, it's self-regenerative properties slowed, and would need a form of replenishment. Oreogus believed that the Shards of Prominus would suffice.
On this mission, the two brothers Ravtuk and Lighsen'tor found an asteroid belt with luminescent sapphire like-rocks embedded yet hugely visible in the asteroids, on one side, the Dark Sapphire, and on the other, the Light. And in the middle, one single rock that was half light and half dark, the two picked the mixed one, Ravtuk argued that he wanted to use it on himself to see it's properties, but Lighsen'tor said it should be studied first, and they fought over it, splitting the two apart in their halves. They had no way of knowing it at the time, but Ravtuk and Lighsen'tor had created a massive cosmic event in the splitting of this rock- trillions of tiny, but powerful, energising particles, radiation and shards from both the Dark and Light sapphire were sent flying omnidirectionally across the universe, and this event would be the cause of many people in the near and far, far distant future gaining access to 'interesting' powers.
They took them to their father, the Emperor on his flagship's bridge, but he appeared unimpressed by it, telling them to search for what he said he wanted, or at least something 'useful', telling them that these sapphires were merely just shiny rocks. However, Oreogus knew that these were some of the most powerful materials in existence- Dark and Light Sapphire, whose radiation grants access to Dark and Light Alchemy, a form of pseudo-magical science that grants access to those 'interesting' powers.
Ravtuk at this point, was at breaking point, while Lighsen'tor reasoned and reminded Ravtuk that this was not what they were supposed to be looking for, Ravtuk raged at his father for his treatment of him and he intended to prove him wrong. Ravtuk, in a fit of rage, drew his sword on his father and impaled him through the chest before his guards could stop him. One of the guards attempted to grab ahold of Ravtuk's arm, and when the son of Oreogus attempted to stab the guard with his Dark Sapphire, the guard turned it on him instead and shoved it into Ravtuk's own chest, but this only granted him unimaginable power, access to Dark Alchemy. Ravtuk, using his inner rage, fired red, fiery but energy-like blasts from his hands to kill the guards. As his brother tried to stop and calm him, Ravtuk only thrust the light sapphire into Lighsen'tor's chest, granting him the polar opposite of his brother's powers, mind healing, calming abilities.
Ravtuk further demonstrated his power on his brother after he questioned why he killed the Emperor, yet spared his life. He then took the Emperor's grand trenchcoat-robe, filling it will dark energy and placed it over himself. Thus proclaiming himself as the new Emperor. He invited his friends, Raches, Styrook, Brinkes, Kalles, Tyrantos, Ikridus and Dredurex, to find more out about these alchemical powers. He invited his sisters too, for they were intrigued, despite secretly in extreme grief at having losing their father. They all travelled to the mining spot, Ravtuk's friends choosing Dark sapphire. There, Dredurex discovered Dread Isotope, which was on the side of the Dark Sapphire, and granted easier access to the powers of Dread, a far more advanced and deadly form of Dark Alchemy. Lighsen'tor taught his own friends, reluctantly, of the Light Alchemy and then the two groups were brought together as rulers of the Empire, with Ravtuk at the top.
As they studied their forms of Alchemy, Ravtuk worked hard on finding out all the secrets to this brand new power, and to understanding how it all works. Unfortunately, these promises of such untold and great power commenced Ravtuk's slow descent into madness. Ravtuk fell in love with one of his fellow Alchemists, Raches, Sorceress of Randes, and the two had a deep relationship, and conquered worlds and galaxies together. Raches would eventually study the concept of Death and how Dark Alchemy relates to it, and would end up selling her 'life' to 'Death' in order to become a Master of Death, able to control the concept of Death itself. In short, Raches was no longer 'living' but she was neither, at least on a cosmic perspective 'dead' either, sort of existing in a strange limbo between life and death, but was closer to the latter.
The Precursor Council demanded that the respective Alchemists teach the government and military their secrets, so they may take over the entirety of space with greater ease. Despite initially hating these demands and silently threatening to kill the councillors, Ravtuk agreed, and they did so. Sadly, the Dark Alchemists became corrupt, experimenting on innocents and turning them into a warped form known as 'Devils'- which became a new species entirely, as well as a form of mental state. As such, when this was discovered, the society that supported these leaders became rebellious and this initiated the First Dark War, a conflict between the Light Alchemists in control of at least one half of the Precursor Empire, and desired to one day eliminate all these powers or use them for peacekeeping purposes, and the Dark Alchemists who controlled the other, and desired to use them for conquest and domination, which would lead to the Precursors nearly all becoming corrupt. As war dragged on and technology became more and more advanced, the Light Alchemist Precursors decided that they'd have to unite the third party groups in order to survive. So they did, and it was agreed on that the Precursor Empire was doomed. So they decided to discard their self-bestowed status as bearers of the Mantle of Responsibility on to the Forerunners, negotiating with Prominus's First Forerunners, the Paragons, on the terms for the Forerunner's inheritance of the title. However, as most of the Milky-Way united under one true society with several different governments, with Maethrillian, a Forerunner world with a large portion of Prominus's lifeforce at its core as their capital, the Light Alchemists decided to bestow this responsibility upon all peoples of the Milky Way galaxy in this utopian society.
Not long after this decision was made, the minds and bodies of most of the Precursor population would be taken over by an unknown anomaly in the universe, known to them as 'The Flood', which was perceived to be some form of powerful cosmic microorganism. There were few ways to stop this, so in an effort to survive, many Precursors ended up sending their souls to another realm, and turning their own bodies into dust. Unfortunately, even this could not stop the microorganism and the dust only made matters worse as the Flood was able to acquire more biomass. When the empire fell, the Forerunner Government, of which the Paragons were their advisers, decided to take the Mantle of Responsibility for themselves, and would lie to the public and all other governments, telling them that they had been given the Mantle and them only, allowing them to maintain leverage over the rest of the galaxy, whilst still appearing as fair towards all others in society.
The original Alchemists survived however, among some other Precursors who had escaped, become cosmic beings, developed immunities or retreated as far away as possible. The Dark Alchemist Kalles banished the Flood to the Milky Way galaxy, and the Alchemists, after losing both the Mantle and the Progenitor as well as essentially their whole empire to the Forerunners, retreated to their native Dwarf Galaxy. Ravtuk was heartbroken to learn that his sisters were unable to survive the Flood, and was nearly brought to tears, but knew that he may be able to bring them back if he just worked hard enough and tried to free the Overgod, the 'saviour' and key to the 'great restoration' which would return all that was lost, as Ravtuk did not have access to the Progenitor and time was short before the Milky Way became inhospitable for the Precursors, this became his last hope.
The Masters, led by Ravtuk, took part in a great battle that would see Lighsen'tor killed and his fellow Light Alchemists defeated trying to defend the Overgod's mind prison, the Overgod being a cosmic being and Herald of Unikrus imbued with the Power Chaos, who ruled his massive homeworld (which was a giant, terraformed star), and made deals with Oreogus in secret, granting him the soldiers he needed to keep his cast-iron grip over his world in return for the Progenitor. The Overgod had always been worshipped as a deity among the Precursors, but Oreogus knew who he really was, just another mortal being made a cosmic entity thanks to the Power Chaos. Overgod was defeated eventually by an unknown force and had to place himself inside a pocket dimension to survive.
And thus Ravtuk and the Dark Alchemists, believing in the Overgod's divine power, began their mission and ritual to free the 'saviour' the Precursors worshipped for so long....
