Description
As of Issue 9 i'm getting to do regular covers for 28 Days Later, which i'm delighted about.Sean Phillips has been doing covers for the book (still is in fact) where he was using a strong design sense along with bold use of red, white, black and some greywash; exactly the type of covers i was interested in doing. I could have made the decision to do something completely different to him, just for the sake of it, but i really liked the look he had established for the covers of the book, and i wanted to run with it. I like that when you see the cover; you instantly recognise it as being a '28 Days Later' cover, like Dave Johnson did with 100 bulletsor Jock does with Scalped or Massimo Carnevale does with Northlanders, etc.
So, for my fist cover, i wanted a lot of white. I think white is a very strong graphic tool that is very underused in comics, every bit as important as black. I mean, most panel borders are white for a reason.
Also, i liked the idea of an 'iconic' shot of Selena, along with a montage of various Infected. I experimented with colour halftone, but made sure to drop it in the background areas and the Infected's eyes, just so they'd "pop" a little more.
More covers to come.

great job man, particularly the layout- having infected both in front and behind her is a nice touch. the eyes pop really nicely on the red panels also.
