Can I ask what software this is done in, how it was made, and how the grainy dotty type of effect is made also? Thanks.

I create all my work in Adobe Illustrator. If a good photograph of my chosen subjectΒ is available (at the correct angle etc.) I just trace over the photograph with the pen tool and create a Live Paint Group to fill in the colours. In this case the train and platform came from one photograph, the building from another, and the smoke/steam was created by layering together a large number of circles.
Once the vector image is completed in Illustrator, I export it and open it in Photoshop. I then apply Filter>Noise>Add Noise and Filter>Noise>Dust and Scratches to give it the grainy effect. This grain greatly increases the size of the file, though, so for printing and uploadingΒ I usually re-export it as a JPG after applying some compression.

Yes that is most useful, I thought that it might have been made in Illustrator because for the past years I have been learning different styles and this one has interested me to sort of figure out how it is done, thanks.
