Isnt it crystal clear...its a horse? Well partly at least

Got an idea while I was in a make up store (of sorts) with my sisters daughter...and having as good as zero interest in all the things make up (my own are really just some moisture cream, mascara, perhaps a eyeshadow in natural color and just maybe blush) I wasnt having much fun. Then I found some nail art crystals... not that I care that much about nails but I like the idea to use stuff meant for something and use it for something else. Im sure using nailart crystals on a horse isnt new but...I havent tried it so...I figured why not.

This is the result. My first idea was to make a sort of Geode looking critter. For some reason there was a double compartment of red in this set so I went with that (even tho if I got a total of 3 packs just to be sure I had enough, it took a total of 3 compartments of red, I would guess its perhaps 60+ stones in there...placed one by one so I didnt really keep track after awhile).

Around the "broken opening" I glued on some fine sand and partly blended it in with the horse color... I tried to look at real red crystal geodes and they seemed to go a bit of earthy reddish hues on the outside so I figured a chestnut colored horse could make sense in this case.

So a sort of darkish liver chestnut it became...The offside also have a crystal eye and if you hold it just right it almost look like that eye glows but I dont think I was able to capture that too well in the pics...

The model is a Standing Stockhorse Stablemate from Breyer, painted in acrylics by myself.
