About:With this script, you can store comments within a new category by activating a little star next to them!
This allows you to keep track on important comments like commissions, even if they aren't in your own message-center!

This is a working script! Install it if you want this!

Features:-->adds a star next to the deviants comment
-->if you click the grey star, it will turn yellow and the comment is stored
-->if you click it again, either on the original site or in your message-center, it will turn grey and the comment is removed
-->adds a new section "Starred Comments" in your Message center: 10 of your stored comments per page.
-->if you deactivate a star within your Message-center, you can revert your decision until next navigation! (you have to go to another page or reload to fully remove them)
-->you can answer the Comments directly out of your Message-center! The comments won't be removed until you deactivate them!

Preferences:
Use
  • Firefox+Greasemonkey or
  • Opera+"Greasemonkey Emulation"-Script or
  • Chrome + Tampermonkey

Hi and thanks for the report!
I just checked and it seems the stars still get displayed but the hook where you can access starred comments got removed.
I moved the "Starred Comments" below the "Folders" Section now and it seems to work again with v1.38.
Please update to this version and check if it works again for you, too!

It seems as if the install link isn't working anymore. D: It's a correct redirection, but the page isn't loading. Is this perhaps because the site is down?

Dediggefedde In reply to Insacove [2014-05-08 23:23:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the message!
I've put a mirror for my own site there, so it can be downloaded again^^

Apparently userscripts.org is a site to avoid in the future... I like their presentation of userscripts, but the administrator decided to quit this very time consuming work (imagine all the lawyers from browsergames and people trying to hack the site)...
First their install-counter broke, then the forum got a big pile of spam and now it seems offline a lot and for longer duration.

I have all the scripts online on my own server already, but lack a nice presentation. I mean, dA is a nice site to give a description and overview about a script (just look at this here^^) but it feels more like a "mention", not like the script's home.
So, currently I'm writing a little webpage to put on my own site for my scripts. Layout is finished so far, just some coding is missing^^ Until it is finished, a direct link like above (added now) will have to do^^

That's fine! That also sucks, too. 0_0 It's a good thing there will be an alternative, though!

I've figured out the problem with the starring comments, I just have to wait just a little bit more but still the section "Starred Comments" in my Message center doesn't shows

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to doris4u [2012-06-20 16:27:11 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the scripts checks once every second of there are comments without the star-symbol to add it there...
What do you mean with "the section doesn't shows"? Do you mean there is no starred-comments-link? it is now underneath your birthdays and groups and above folders.
Or do you mean, selecting it still shows "no messages" when you visit your starred-comments-section?
Have you tried it with very long comments? Which Browser do you use? When using chrome, do you use tampermonkey?

Dediggefedde In reply to doris4u [2012-06-20 21:21:06 +0000 UTC]

Hi!
Well, the link would be inserted underneath the birthdays, so the screenshot doesn't tell so much^^
But I changed the script there a bit, so if you reinstall it, the link should be inserted direct under "New Notes".
So please reinstall the script to update to v1.35 and refresh your site!

I made by mistake uninstallation of the scrip. After new install script don't work anymore. Error display is "undefined". What can I do to script works again?
Thank you in advance!

Dediggefedde In reply to vojis [2012-02-29 20:59:28 +0000 UTC]

Are you using firefox?
Try uninstalling the script again, restart firefox after that and install it again.
You can also try to type "about:config" into your adressbar and insert "dev_star_com" into the filter-field. reset/delete all listed entries there.
Is there anything else in the error-display? e.g. what is undefined?

Dediggefedde In reply to vojis [2012-02-29 21:26:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, can you try to uninstall it again and restart your browser before reinstalling?
I hope you are not disappointed, but if you uninstall the script, normally all starred comments get deleted.
Is the script properly installed (within tampermonkey, not as additional extension?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vojis In reply to Dediggefedde [2012-02-29 21:56:16 +0000 UTC]

Script is properly installed, and worked ok until I deinstall it. Problem is, after deinstall script don't delete comments. Restart does nothing. I am not disappointed, I am very persistent.

Dediggefedde In reply to vojis [2012-03-01 00:21:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that is a problem that is easier to resolve within firefox^^
I think it work, when you first uninstall the script, then delete your cookies/cache, then restart the browser and then install the script again...
If that won't clear the problem, I will insert a button somewhere to reset the settings to default, so please contact me in case^^

I use Click&Clean extension to remove all traces of internet session on exit. So this will not solve the problem.

Dediggefedde In reply to vojis [2012-03-01 01:58:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, I updated the code, so there is a tampermonkey-command now named "reset dev_star_com".
When you push it, all stored data should be deleted.
you need to install again to get the function!

Opera 11.52
Installed Gm_emulation and the script... while the stars on comment replies appeared, the menu itself with starred comments/comments stack - didn't.

Are there aab-greasemonkey-emulation.js, aaa-lib-stacktrace.js and aaa-lib-xmlhttp-cd.js in your script-folder?
Did you change the Opera-options I listed in my HowTo?
is the script's extension *.user.js?

Dediggefedde In reply to SilverInkblot [2011-11-24 23:47:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, how do you know it doesn't work? Isn't anything shown? Or are there javascript-errors? Or can you see stars but not the entries in your Message-Box? Or is an alert popping up you need to use Tampermonkey etc?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverInkblot In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-11-24 23:48:40 +0000 UTC]

Dediggefedde In reply to SilverInkblot [2011-11-24 23:57:46 +0000 UTC]

mmh...
The stars will only appear on the deviations-page/profile-page etc. not in the message-center...

Is it listed within the Tampermonkey-Options?
Are there any javascript-errors on sites that are supposed to have stars (like this one)?
(you can show them by ctrl+shift+j + reload)
Are you using other scripts that affects Deviantart?

SilverInkblot In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-11-25 00:01:39 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea :/ Scrips are new to me - I've never tried installing them before, so I can't imagine I have any interfering with dA. It's not enough for me to worry with it though - just though you guys might want to know people with Chrome might be having issues

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to SilverInkblot [2011-11-25 00:18:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, I and some other people are using chrome, too, but the script is working^^
So, it may be possible, that there is an installation-error...

So, try following:
uninstall the script everywhere (in chrome://extensions if listed plus in tampermonkey-options).
Then restart your browser then go to the install-page linked above. The green install-button on the right should contain a small black icon. click it, (little popup "fetching..." occurs) and confirm the popup ("script installed occurs")
Then go to this page and check again: [link]

If that doesn't work, I don't know what isn't working either^^

Well, I don't have a MAC... and don't know someone who has... So I can't test it^^
But if you are using Safari for mac, there is a possibility that you get it working with Simbl and Greasekit as mentioned in the HowTo or here: [link]
However, no guarantee given by me^^

Dediggefedde In reply to HuntressBelle [2011-11-24 21:12:43 +0000 UTC]

Well...
I imagined that it depends only on your browser, not on your System, what script is working and what not...
So, sorry I couldn't help it, but I really don't know anything about browser on mac^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to HuntressBelle [2011-11-24 22:06:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm using it within Firefox 8.0, Opera 11.52 and Iron (chrome) 15.0.900.1...
So I thought it would work for the current versions^^
(btw: If you are using beta-versions of Firefox, you might have to use beta-versions of Greasemonkey, too! ... You are using Greasemonkey, aren't you?^^)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HuntressBelle In reply to Dediggefedde [2011-11-24 22:45:26 +0000 UTC]

(not that I know of...)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dediggefedde In reply to HuntressBelle [2011-11-24 22:56:26 +0000 UTC]

Well...
You need to use the Greasemonkey-Addon to use Userscripts^^
That's why in the preferences "Firefox+Greasemonkey" is listed...
Try to install the Firefox-Addon Greasemonkey and go to the install-page of the script again, to install it correctly!

How did you try to install it without Greasemonkey?^^
