Description
About:This script adds a symbol next to the deviants name that shows if the user is online, some days offline, offline for a longer time or invisible. It also shows you if the user is watching you.
This is a working script! Install it if you want this!
Features:--> adds a symbol next to the deviants name that shows his status:
red - Offline longer than a week
yellow - Offline shorter than a week
green - Online
grey - Invisible
--> GM-Menu lets you set if there should be a Not-Watching-Button and since when a Deviant is in red-status!
--> displays a new button "Watching You" when Deviant is watching you, otherwise "Not watching you"
--> only works on their profile-page!
--> uncheck "extra watch-button"to change the present +watch-button instead!
--> if the clock-symbol is shown, the script currently updates your watcher-list! Hover over the symbol to see how many are already updated! (something about 600 Watchers/second)
--> if you go to another profile/actualize while the script is updating, it will resume updating on the new site
--> clicking on the button will get you a setting-window to choose:
- - - >when a Deviant is not yellow but red
- - - >if the button should be visible when not watching you
- - - >after which time the watcher-list should be updated
- - - >If you'd like the long text-watch-button or a shorter one
--> Click on the Friends-button and then "Manage friends". In the upcoming list, hover over the names of the people you watch. After some seconds there should be a little Icon like on their profile-page, when they were last active. Now you can just remove all that are inactive for some years or something^^
Preferences:
Should work with Firefox, Opera and Chrome! For Opera and Chrome see my Howto dediggefedde.deviantart.com/jo… to install properly. It may also work in Safari, but is not tested.
Install: phi.pf-control.de/userscripts/…
Again, it was a visual suggestion, located here: sarahell.deviantart.com/art/DA…
However, I know there is a script that already shows if you are watched.
Well, I wanted to create my own and heard the other stopped working.
But don't think, I just copy some parts from there! This script is fully written by myself!
Update:
Some errors using Firefox are fixed with some rewrites.
Errors with Chrome are fixed by switching to tampermonkey-extension.
Update v3:
I changed the watch-button instead of adding a new one.
It changes to "mutual watchers" when you watch each other.
The profile-page contains now a settings-button.
The Friend-list will now get Icons depending on the user's last activity on hover.
If you update from an earlier version it may display the buttons wrong until you let it refetch your list.

It seem doesn't work on Firefox but still working on Chrome and Opera possible since dA change the profile coding (which users doesn't allowed wide widgets).

well, as dA implemented its own display of being rewatched, the script's left over purpose is the display of the online-status on profiles and friend-lists. Thiss till seems to work for me at least.
If you were talking about something else, please tell me more detailes of the bug you witnessed!

Hello, it's me again ^u^
I have a new PC, and wanted to reinstall this script, since it's part of DA for me
But it doesn't want to work :/
I have Chrome (36.0.1985.125 m) and Tapermonkey (3.8.52) and I don't understand why it's not working
It says it's installed, though it shows version 2.4 for the script D:
When I visit my profile, Tapermonkey shows the script as running, but there is no setting button. And it doesn't show up on any other site either.
(Another llama button script is working, and your dAhub script works as well.)

Hello ouo/
Since this new DA update, with the new user symblols and everything, this isn't working for me anymore
The watcher-part was part of one of the DA updates, so I can see who I watch and who watches me, but I miss the small green-yellow-red dots, they don't show up anymore
It was nice to see who's and who was and when was online ^^
(I use Chrome on Win7)

Hi!
Thank you for your report!
I fixed that in version 3.31! Please update the script (in case Tampermonkey doesn't do that automatically).
I'm always glad when my scripts become real parts of dA! In this case, that part of the script is also still working and replacing the text of the watch-button depending on your state...
There is also the watched-activity-overview when visiting my.deviantart.com/deviants/ .

If you visit your own profile, there should be a "Setting" button at the top right.
Pressing it should reveal the dialog.
However, dA already implemented this feature recently! They are showing you deviants who are watching you with a little speech bubble on their profile!

well, that's also part of its features...
the little symbol next to the user's name on their profile page tells you whether they're on or since when offline.
There is also an watcher overview if you go to your friends-overview (click "Friends" on the top right->"Manage Friends").

Review about 3.0:
I'm sorry to say it, i'm not that much of a fan of the combined button. While you do save some space, it takes away fome of the usability. Why? Because 2 buttons are much easier and quicker to recognize (even from the corner of one's eye), than one with only slightly changed text on it.
Besides, "watch back" sounds almost like a request to watch them back. A better wording would be "mutual watchers".
And finally: showing those icons on the friends page is nice, but rather pointless. It just takes way too long for them to load. Plus (as a bug report), on many of my friends i ended up with 2 icons next to their name instead of one.

Dediggefedde In reply to rotane [2013-06-06 19:33:04 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for your report!
I think I will give an option for switching to an additional button then...
"Watch back" (should) only appear when you don't watch the other person but he watches you!
"Mutual watchers" (should) already appear when you both watch each other.
At least that's how I understood the suggestion^^
Well, I don't think the friends-feature is at it's optimum yet^^ It takes some time to get the data, so that's one problem... I think I will change the request's target to difi instead of the profile-page...
I think I know where the bug is coming from, too...
So, thank you very much for your review!
If you allow, I would like to contact you again after I changed a few things!

Glad i could help!
The idea for an option to get both buttons back sounds nice
Maybe it was a glitch; but i saw "watch back" on a profile of a friend that i was already watching. But yes, the way you laid it out there is how i'd like it.
The friends-list isn't really something i'd use, to be honest, regardless of how fast you'd be able to get the data. But that's only me…
Anytime! Feel free to contact me again – i might not be able to respond again until monday, however.

Hi!
Well, It took some time because some other stuff (did you know dA got rid of the news-section in messagecenter? a few difi-requests of mine got invalidate because of that^^) But I changed the script a little.
There is now an option to display an button instead of changing the former one (I left the loading-icon at the present one as I don't see much reason to change that).
With this, the "Hide Not-Watching-Button" option came back again.
I also sped up the list-function in your friend-overview... there was a nice difi-request to get most of them... the function seem to get used to show some friend-menü (but also displays all that are just watched) with their last activity-time... Well, some kind of didn't show up, so they are fetched afterwards using the old method. But if you're lucky, there won't be any^^ for me it was one out of 102... I tested this with two pages of watched...
It would be nice, if you could update to v3.1 and test it again^^

Seems to work perfectly now! Thanks much! It took a while for the script to fetch all my watchers (initially it appeard as if no-one was watching me – maybe you should add a disclaimer on the script page, mentioning that).
And boy, the My Friends page updated lightning-fast now, good job!
Interesting tid-bit about the News section in the MC, btw. I hadn't noticed this – but it must've happened pretty recently. I think i remember seeing a News item there last week…

Dediggefedde In reply to rotane [2013-06-13 09:59:09 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, nice to hear it works!
Well, it should show some sort of loading-icon with hover-text how much is already loaded while it's fetching...
I also made this process pausable, so leaving and returning later won't reset the counter to 0, but will just continue... unless it's time again to rescan. Please note that after the minutes you set within its settings there is always another full fetching process. If you hardly add or remove any watcher/gets watched, you can set that up to some high number like 525600 for a year or something^^ I use 0 as a setting and it needs about 2 seconds for around 102 people that are watching me...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rotane In reply to Dediggefedde [2013-06-13 10:39:43 +0000 UTC]
As a matter of fact, i was looking for that loading-icon, but i never saw it. And i still don't. The "final" buttons appear too quickly. Only now, that i set the number to 0 as well, do i see the icon. It's gone too quickly though to see any sort of tooltip. But with the default 60, i never saw it. And as i said, right after i updated the script (from 2.3 to 3.1) i got false results. Probably until the script scanned my watchers for the first time. So this seems to be the only bug left.

Dediggefedde In reply to rotane [2013-06-13 11:36:23 +0000 UTC]
Well, the icon gets removed when the loading is finished, so you got a good connection speed^^
I made a little note in the description and changed the preview to a visual guide how to use.

Well, it would be easier and they would work better on one hand^^
On the other they would probably ask me to work on something else as they are always working on something new lately^^
Also I don't have much time for a job, studying physics, hobby projects (like this) and a part-time job as developer... So as long as I make sleep another daily hobby of mine, there won't be any additional jobs in the near future.^^

Dediggefedde In reply to AprilMcGuire [2013-06-05 22:47:04 +0000 UTC]
Hi!
I was working on this script today and I implemented a feature that would help you do that.
I'm not a friend of automatic removing, so you still have to remove by hand.
If you update to v3.0 and go to your friends-list: [link] and hover over a name, after some seconds there should be a little icon with it's title telling you when the user last logged on. On your profile-page you can set when the icon gets red instead of yellow (week, month, year etc.).
So, quickly hovering over the names and removing everything that's red should help you cleaning your watchlist a bit^^

Damn Google is giving me the run around, won't let me install it like I did a long time ago, saying extensions from other sites is not approved or some lousy shit like that, and being I do know how to generally make the url a trusted one, but don't exactly have the full on know how to do so, is there a chance I can have a link to a downloadable version? If it was a downloadable file not a straight install, I could have this all set up and fixed no issue.

Dediggefedde In reply to TheRealDarkFox13 [2013-05-30 15:35:44 +0000 UTC]
Chrome changed its behaviour: all extensions must be installed from google store, nowhere else.
You could/should now use "Tampermonkey" for Chrome to administrate your userscripts.
It lets you install userscript from any page again.
It provides a few nice functions and makes it easier to separate userscripts from extensions... also to see what is actually running and you can even edit scripts... also a little sandbox, so in case of an error, only the script crashes...
Also there is nothing more then this .user.js-file. if installing doesn't work, downloading goes with a right-click + save as.

I guess, you use firefox.
To deactivate it, click on the greasemonkey-addon and onto the script's name, so the check disappears.
To remove it, go to your addon-list and to "userscripts". There is a list with every userscript and the option to disable, remove or change the script.
May I ask you why you choose to uninstall it?

I installed it to Google Chrome. Is it the same for that?
Immediately after and since I downloaded it, my computer is jumbling everything on deviantart (squashing icons together, mixing up words, etc.). It's probably just my computer alone, it has issues with all kinds of things.

Dediggefedde In reply to wallabean [2013-05-31 08:32:44 +0000 UTC]
Did you install it using "Tampermonkey" extension? I advice everybody to use Tampermonkey on chrome as there are functions that won't run natively.
If you installed it natively, there should be an entry in your extension-list. (options->tools->extensions) with a "remove" button or a trashcan-symbol.
If you installed it on Tampermonkey, where should be a context-menu after clicking the Tampermonkey-symbol.
depending on version there is an entry "Options" or "Overview" or such. After clicking that, a new tab opens with a list of all userscripts and trashcans on the far right to remove then.

well, just downloading shouldn't install it^^
you would need to confirm to install and then it's installed natively, so it should appear in your extension-list.

Well, the problem is that Microsoft doesn't like third party developer much, so there aren't many possibilities, to make something like a userscript. As far as I know, even all IE-Extensions and toolbars have to be installed like a seperate program.
You could try the extension Trixie, though. I heard it worked for some, but I can't promise anything. using Kango-cross-browser framework or crossrider.com It would be possible to rewrite the script into an extension, but I don't really have much time for this. Also internet-explorer's philosophy is that it is fast, slim and runs without problems, so customizability isn't really considered here.
If you like to customize your browser with scripts, extensions and toolbars, consider switching to firefox, chrome or opera.^^
