Description Palouse Falls

Washington, USA

After seeing numerous images of these incredible falls, this had to go on our list to visit while in the Pacific northwest. Even though the skies weren't doing anything, the fall colours were rampant down in the canyon below. That, in combination with late afternoon light gave a great opportunity to shoot something a little different to images I've seen of these falls either in big flow, or with great skies. (That's my justification lol, of course I would have loved to have seen this with more flow and more spectacular lighting at dusk!)

I'm from the area and love this picture, you've nailed the beauty of a portion of the region. Washington is so diverse in landscapes and this was really a nice piece of an homage.

Honestly these falls are shot so much it's always the same thing but this image is definitely the best I've seen of Palouse. I like your crop of the sky because the sky isn't the purpose of this shot. Your editing style is also choice for this scene. Really good job. I wish I knew you were in Eastern WA because I would've showed you a much better location!

Dee-T In reply to Jordan-Roberts [2014-01-13 09:19:29 +0000 UTC]

it was all very difficult jordan ! I didn't know when I'd be visiting the falls because of Charlotte's routines. I took several other compositions from halfway down and right at the base but actually found the 'usual' vantage point to be the most pleasing though the least original lol

Jordan-Roberts In reply to Dee-T [2014-01-13 10:37:00 +0000 UTC]

Haha ya when I went, I went to the little spot and was like "ok, I'm really bored now" and left to go down the backside, which was really interesting actually. No but I honestly enjoyed your style in this image. For some reason people tend to over do the HDR editing with it, don't know why. Next time though! Eastern WA has some really nice landscapes aside from farmland.

Yeah thats quite true. At the moment I am 22, most rentalcar companys will charge me a fee for beeing a "young driver" even though I have a license for almost five years. Therefor even renting cars is unaffordable. :/
