Gibson's StepsGreat Ocean Road, Australia
This was taken during Marianne and my last outing photographically. In late February before our second child arrived a month later, we spent four nights on the Ocean Road. Gibson's steps was a location I wanted see for myself and it just so happened that there was some lovely pre sunset golden light (which unfortunately faded away for the actual sunset).[Prints and tutorials] Β [Facebook discussion] Β [500px]

It's when I see something like this that I wonder how I'm ever going to earn what it takes to ever capture anything like this. I am in complete awe of this. the light, the water motion in the foreground combined with the total clarity of the distant waves and detail in them on the horizon line, yet the sharp contrast between the water and the sky, the pinpoint clarity of the rocks. sigh. Just magnificent. This is a DD in my book!

thanks very much - you need a combination of getting lucky and putting yourself in the right place
Also, make sure you take the necessary exposures to blend the images - you'll be able to make a better fist of it as time goes on and your skills develop

Very nice! I love that the gradient isn't overlapping the rocks above the horizon. Tricky to pull this off, but you've done it nicely!
