Description
12 ApostlesGreat Ocean Road
This shot is a composite of two images - one taken an hour before moonrise and another a few hours later - the timing was affected by cloud which covered the area just after the star shot was taken for several hours. It was nonetheless a memorable evening on the ocean road. Please click on the image to view it at its proper size - compression is really killing it......

It's hard to believe this is a photo (or even a composite of two). How long of an exposure did it take to get the sky like that?

this is 2 shots - the sky was a 30 second exposure before moonrise, the ground shot was after moonrise with a slightly longer exposure and smaller aperture

While I'm decent with some parts of photography, I am seriously ignorant when it comes to other parts. What does a smaller aperture accomplish?

Read the description mate, I am not trying to deceive anyone. FYI, this shot is possible in one frame and would have been had it not been for the cloud right at moonrise. ( it just requires the right moment which I was nearly there for)

I understand what you say and I wouldn't offer this as a print, but sometimes, life circumstances change ,(we are about to have a second child) and many of these places will have to provide images I had in my mind from the one visit . Thanks for your kind words

It looks so unreal with the shadows from the rocks and the way the water looks. Absolutely amazing!

That's beautiful! I think the thing that sticks out most to me is the dimensions. It's such an oddly shaped photograph, and yet the sizing fits the scene perfectly.
