Description Ok, this is the dual-lit planets one I promised.

This one was done with the Flaming Pear stuff again....Glitterato, LunarCell (layered renders with different lighting settings), and SolarCell.

Enjoy.

I used to. It was a long time and several crashes ago.

I'm not even sure if Flaming Pear would work on my copy of CS3, so ... *shrugs*

Besides I've switched to using mostly custom brushes and a few tricks. Heh. Photoshop is a very versatile program.

Coolio. I believe it does work on CS3, though. And what brushes might these be, out of curiosity?

That would be the Flaming Pear filter pack. I've no idea if they're still doing their free trial versions or what. The trial lasted a pretty long time, and it was enough for me to have fun - although I didn't want to pay for the permanent versions. Oh well.

I know...say, would you be so kind as to look at my most recent WIP in my scraps? It would mean plenty to me.

Planets look real good, but the space background is awesome. Love that part the most.

That must be one hell of a bright light from the right coz it's very... erm - dunno how to expllain it... kind of splat on the right side of the planets! lol yeah, anyway the texturing on them is beautiful - and the brushing on the nebulae is unorthodox but exceptionally effective!

Great job!

Og.

Glad you liked it! However, I didn't do direct brushing on most of them...

That nebula was done with a Flaming Pear filter called Glitterato. Usually to get it to work the best, I end up using very faint, fuzzy Lighten paintbrushes to tweak 'em. (Let's just say I like to have planets' and moons' dark sides show up against a nebula instead of black space...so I end up getting picky about where the planets and nebulae overlap.)

Yeah, filters can make it bloody easy, but I'm not happy with just filtering it and being done. Usually I'll putz with hue, contrast, a few brushstrokes... one flaw with Glitterato that on certain scale/depth settings, the starfield starts to look like two animation cels of the same thing at different magnifications layered on each other. I usually go through a couple dozen randomizations to get anything looking JUST right. Ugh... Band Aid tool's a godsend when all else fails. ^_^

Before the Flaming Pear ones, I used to use Difference Clouds, and the Dissolve setting on Layer blend for a layer of pale blue for the stars and nebulae. More work, but basically the same end result.

Hope that helps with your art too.
