Tired, cranky, grumpy, yet harbors initiative to spare. He comes off as having a rotten attitude and a lot of issues with those who bark authority, however he knows what he must do for the benefit of his comrades. Willing to throw himself under the bus... begrudgingly. He cares deep down, and is a devoted family man.

-B a c k s t o r y-
Bennet comes from a large family who had recently moved to Goldenrod from Unova. He was running into hard times, unable to find any work until the war kicked up, which as with any war opened the doors to new job opportunities. He jumped at the first chance he got, and was hired as a ‘catcher’ of sorts to help supply the Johto army with Pokemon. The job required him to go back to Unova, where he and a squad were deployed to an arctic region to capture “ice bear” Pokemon.
They captured only the little impressionable cubs, Cubchoo, as the larger evolved Beartic were deemed far too feral and dangerous for training in the army. Obviously, the protective Beartic often had to be terminated in order to gain access to their offspring. It was rough, conscious-grinding work, but Bennet got by knowing that the money he was making was helping to support his family.
Once night, a member of his squad had slid down an ice slope and injured their leg during a raid in a Beartic territory. He, being the medical supervisor, was on his way to assist them when he unwittingly passed too close to a Beartic den, and was attacked by its furious inhabitant. In a stroke of luck, he had managed to kill it with his knife, and continued on his way to assist his comrade. They were headed on their way back to camp when they passed up the body of the Beartic that had attacked Bennet, and he noticed something moving by it’s side. Upon a closer look, it was a Cubchoo pressed up against the body of it’s mother, unaware that she was dead.
Bennet brought it back to the camp, not giving it much of a thought, as it’s what they were there to do. However upon his arrival he received a telegram from his frantic mother, informing him that his younger brother was being deployed to the Navy. To spare his brother from this, Bennet signed up in his stead, Bringing along the first Pokemon in his reach, the Cubchoo.
He seems to be plagued by guilt for what he had done to the mother of the Cubchoo, whom he has light heartedly dubbed “Tough Guy” due to it’s anything-but-tough, and clingy nature. This has resulted in a complicated relationship between the two.

Tough Guy is a shy little thing, who looks to Bennet as his new mom, unaware of the gripes the soldier has with that. Bennet’s face was the first he had seen aside from that of his real mother’s, so the youngster seems to have imprinted on the human.
Tough Guy likes to be babied, and seems more intent on hiding behind ‘mommy’ when things get to scary, rather than doing any of the fighting himself.
