Description I spent a long time making this tutorial and I hope it's usefull to someone out there. Sorry I didn't cover clothes, it's because the techniques explained I used for the clothes, so I'd just be repeating myself.

This was really helpful, thanks

One thing that bugs me though...in the title, you spelt "coloring" in the American spelling, then in the actual piece, it's spelt "colouring", the English way. So....which are you? American, English, or neither? X3

Haha I spelt "coloring" so that Americans could find it? XD I think, I can't really remember now. I am English and otherwise always say "colouring" hehe.

Thanks!

THANKS TO YOU! XD

You're the one person who spelled it out with enough detail. Thanks again.

I tried to find the spatter brush but I can't find it DX where is it?

Deepsies In reply to S2En-JayS2 [2007-04-03 14:17:27 +0000 UTC]

Spatter brush? Errm..you make the spatter brush. You can change the scattering in the brush tab or make a new canvas about 100x100 and just click around to add dots different sizes and go to Select > All and then Edit > Define Brush or something and name it. Then it pops up in your brush tab.

I try to reply to everything. XD Manga scanlations? Of what? I mean someone on dA who has lineart you're allowed to colour. XD But I suppose you can do that too. Lol.

k well i got 1 how do u do back rounds cusz if u look at my gallery i dnt kno how =[

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deepsies In reply to naruto772 [2007-01-31 21:49:34 +0000 UTC]

Always do the background before colouring the characters. Hmm...The same technique with colouring the characters is used. Except add textures from mayang or somewhere on Overlay or something. Always zoom in using a small brush, high opacity for the background details. As things go into the distance the colours go more blue and desaturated. Before doing the details do a colour wash for the sky etc. Then add rocks or whatever. Hope that helps. XD

bonitalatina45 In reply to Deepsies [2007-01-18 21:17:36 +0000 UTC]

yeah um i didnt get that far cause how do u create a layer BELOW ur lineart?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deepsies In reply to bonitalatina45 [2007-01-19 15:11:25 +0000 UTC]

If your lineart (from a scan) is on a locked Background Layer then duplicate it and delete the locked layer. Now go to Layers > New Layer or click the New Layer icon in the Layers palette. Then set the lineart layer to Multiply and on the Lineart layer go to Image > Adjustments > Levels and fiddle with that to remove the grey areas. Hope that helps.
