Uhhmmmmm hmmmm 
Basically once you glue everything together, record included, then you need to stab a hole through the middle. All records have a little ole hole in them so that you can play them so just stab through the foam board and you've got yourself a hole. Then you thread some fishing line or string through there and tie it off with a bead at the bottom (a big enough bead so that it doesn't slide through the hole).
If you do that, everything should spin. The thread may get a little twisted but you can always unravel it.

Well canonically it's future Dave (the one who becomes davesprite) that uses the turntables. Alpha Dave in canon really just sticks to swords and half-swords haha.
However you could use the logic that alpha dave had a lot of time loops to acquire new weapons?? And also he acquired the leftover weapons from future dave after future dave became davesprite...

But for Alpha dave SPECIFICALLY I would stick to his swords or half-swords!!

im using records, how do you put the string on? do you make a hole through the record? great tutorial btw!

If you're using regular vinyl records they should already have a whole through the middle. The only thing you need to make a hole in the styrofoam-core board :0a
Then just thread the string through the hole and knot it on one end and you should be good. It might need a bead some hot glue and etc etc to secure the string but nothing terribly intense

You can always try weighting them....mine never really had that problem too much

Try weighting them. And if that doesn't work....try to make the string act as more of a bracelet than a ring? so it has two points of balance/tension rather than one?? that could work as well...
