Oh my gog, time for a stupid comment/question-thingy. Oh gog, that just sounded stupid. Ugggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, in the tutorial thingy when you were saying the stuff for people using construction paper, you wrote "omg don't use construction paper. omg just..."
Well, ummmm, I dun get it. What does it mean? Other than that, I luv your tutorial. Look, I'll even write "love" right, just so you know I'm serious. "I love your tutorial>"

it means, don't use construction paper. go out of your way to find legitimate records from a record store. because construction paper is shit and makes for a very "un-quality" prop.

Can't you just use records that'll work just as well as cut out paper?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to Beyond-Invisible [2012-09-08 02:14:44 +0000 UTC]

i used records, as you can see, at the bottom of the tutorial.

but some people can't find records/don't have records/don't feel like spending money on records so i just decided to add that bit. gomen.

Beyond-Invisible In reply to deerlette [2012-09-11 06:05:22 +0000 UTC]

Do they actually spin? Or do you know of a way I could get then to do that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to Beyond-Invisible [2012-09-12 21:49:32 +0000 UTC]

Oh they spin alright! Just use fishing line or somethin and attach em to a ring! Then you can spin them to your heart's content

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Beyond-Invisible In reply to deerlette [2012-09-13 03:27:35 +0000 UTC]

DO they spin on their own, or does the fishing line twist to make it spin?
If it does, do you know of way I can make them spin without twisting the line up?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to Beyond-Invisible [2012-09-14 20:39:24 +0000 UTC]

it twists up, but that's the point of tying it off to a ring, so that you don't lose all circulation in your fingers. then when it twists it just twists to the ring.

there's not many other ways to make them spin without twisting unless you're using a thicker string or just something that is sturdy. other than physically rigging the record to a small motor of some sort I can't think of anything. it's really just gonna be trial and error

This is the best tutorial I've seen that is really easy on the wallet. Thanks for putting this up. One question though, what size would the poster board be? I don't wanna go home with not enough board for both turntables.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to BossKdin [2012-06-20 04:39:29 +0000 UTC]

oh god uh...
probably something close to....20x30??
And I had three on hand when making mine...I glued some of the inner pieces together to save money so you could do that.
I'd buy four just to have some room for mistakes.

Ahmmggg THIS IS AN AWESOME TUTORIAAALLL~ ;w;

Just a question, is there anyway to keep them spinning without the string getting tangled up? I've heard some people use swivels or something. idk what would be the best to use. o3o

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to DaRandom1 [2012-06-18 17:27:58 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply because I've been giving my response some thought.

There are not many ways to stop the string from tangling up without seriously changing the design from my tutorial.... I think the best way to reduce it...would be to make the hole that the string goes through a lot wider. This way it doesn't catch and twist up. You could do that and then attach a sort of platform at the bottom...this way there is weight at the end to hold the string steady while the rest of it spins?

It's kind of complex to explain ahahaha does that make sense though?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DaRandom1 In reply to deerlette [2012-06-19 02:39:55 +0000 UTC]

Nah, that's alright. XD

Yeah, I actually understand that and it seems like a good idea to try. I think I've got an idea on somehow making it work this way, thank youu~

OMG Thank you for making this! I've been wondering how to make those turn tables that can 'float' from your hands, but not rape your fingers with weight. :'D

i have acrylics instead of spray paint, will that be ok??? how can i apply the acrylic paint so that it's smooth, like no brushstrokes? Could i put it in a bottle or use a sponge O_O

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

deerlette In reply to Mr-Lucifer [2012-06-05 17:36:15 +0000 UTC]

Spray paint is really your best bet for something without brushstrokes :0
Though if you use a sponge and acrylics that would be a good second best option! Lots of dabbing and all that.

D: man! I wish I had this tutorial when I made my turntables! The mosterboard kept braking so I had to use plywood and I put knobs on the bottom of mine...But atleast you could move the records!~ But the downside was I got a huge splinter in my hand.
