Sunday mornings you can find me at the Farmers Market in Hollywood, down near the Arclight theater and Amoeba Records. I'm fond of my fresh produce and fresh Greek food, plus the long walk there and back is great.Most Sundays Jacqueline is there writing poems for people on any subject. Two weeks ago I asked her to write me one on "Procrastination", something I've been having problems with recently. You might call it writers block but procrastination is what it feels like to me as the ideas are there in my head but I'm having trouble motivating myself to type it out.
This is her poem;
Procrastination
That tug and tangle
pulls us into pause.
That distraction that
takes away our focus
and has us fester
in nothingness. How
can we turn away, make
action take the lead
and so slip freely into
motion? Aim well and rest
often, find a rhythm and
let it be, & look deeply
into the reasons behind
this waiting game.

I've taken the first step in acknowledging it is a problem, not I must take action!
But then, this very entry might be me procrastinating doing the writing I should be doing instead...

Yeah, I admire her ability to sit there and spontaneously come up with a poem on any subject. That takes mad skills and she has my full and undying admiration for it.

Some people have that genius in them, and to them it might be even something imperceptible, I'm sure she must think it's a common thing, nothing really "special"

That is very kind of you to think about me regarding the category here. I'd say DeevElliott categorized rightly his shot
I wouldn't put it in street since despite the candid and unstaged situation, it's related to an activity (a wonderful one) not depicting an humorous or let's say funny street situation. I'm not restricting street shots to funny or ironic situations, but here the shot is showing a Lady whose activity is to write poems in the street. There is a story beyond it, but not a situation or interaction pushing the watcher to smile or react like seeing a human being in her/his interaction with her/his environment...

Ohhh my goodness Houman!!! You have no idea how much I've learned from this explanation!!! I will be hooked to this week's PE series of articles, because if I learned all this through a brief comment, I can't possibly imagine all I will learn about this subject in those articles!!!

Yep, I'm gonna say that you're procrastinating by posting. I recognize you, fellow procrastinator.
For instance, at this very moment, I may be fleeing from learning how to use my scriptwriting program. Which in turn is me fleeing from writing the story I need to convert to script form. Which is ultimately procrastination.

I adore her just for using a typewriter! I used to think I was a procrastinator beyond compare, but I realized that the part of my brain that stores ideas is surrounded by razor wire guarded by Dobermans. It doesn't want me in there, and there's days when I just don't have what it takes to go in with the bolt cutters and stun gun to get into the vault.
