Description
Underworld Enemy #5 & #6: Zol and Gel"Jelly-like monsters that walk about bouncing around in the labyrinths. When Link cuts Zol, it splits into two Gels. Gel has little attacking power, but Zol has twice the power of Gel."
- The Legend of Zelda manual
The dungeons that make up the underworld are susceptible to leaking and moisture accumulation, ideal conditions for the quick and aggressive growth of toxic black molds. Ganon's sorcerers have left no corner untouched, and have given these molds the ability to move, attack, reproduce and combine. Gel is the name given to smaller portions of these molds, which are made after several airborne spores combine with one another; Gels combine to form Zols. Zols are larger, much more dense and sticky and are able to belch out spores on a constant basis, the likes of which poison the air around them. Getting close to a Zol is not recommended, not only is the air that permeates them lethal, but due to their ultra sticky, molasses-like body, bladed weapons often get stuck and are consequently dissolved by corrosive enzymes found within the creature's nucleus. The Zol and Gel aren't particularly known for their speed, so ranged weapons make for a much more successful attack strategy, though they will eventually reform together. The only way to disperse of them completely is to use fire, which will effectively melt and burn the creatures until nothing remains.Β

Wow. In the original game, these looked like blobs or Hershey Kisses. Now... *shudder*

I'm not going to lie: when I first played The Legend of Zelda for the NES, the Zols and Gels were my favorite enemies. I found them to be so cute!
However, now...that "cute" image is gone...
Thank you.

Your art made them look like a actual monster... I means in comparison with the original that looks like a Choco Kiss...
