I'm more irked about the other things they decided to cut, little things like Milburn getting excited about a different creature. In cutting it, it made the character look like a total idiot when he abruptly starts getting cutesy with the Hammerpede/Proto-facehugger. If they kept it, it wouldn't have seemed so dumb, knowing that the character is easily excited, but I digress.

The alternate opening was cool, but I'm kind of glad they kept it the way it was.

I totally agree! There were even certain alternates that I would have loved to see swapped out too. Like the alternate conversation between Vickers and Wayland. It flowed better to me and the dialog and tone was bars above the other. And I liked Shaw's more "I've had it with you" tone with David back on the crashed ship.

I'm hoping that Ridley will cobble the deleted scenes into the movie and do an extended version in the future. Perhaps before Paradise is released in theaters.

Even though I think the addition of 'Father' at the end of her line was too forced, the alternate version of the scene played out better, more in depth.
