It was a beautiful sunset in the outskirts of the SMG castle and Mario was hungry searching for any smidgen of spaghetti he could find after he emptied SMG4’s fridge for the umpteenth time, his search was interrupted when he saw Meggy sitting on a cliffside while looking at the setting sun, sadness was written all over her face. Mario approached her from the side in an unusually delicate manner with a rarely seen concerned expression: “Hey Meggy what are you doing here all depressed? Did Boompkins make you watch anime with him again?”. Meggy turned at him and her face lit up a little before going back to watching the sunset, “Thank you Red, for always being here. You mean a lot to me, I feel so safe knowing you’ll always have my back”, Mario looked more puzzled than touched, he just sat besides Meggy, “What’s going on?”, Meggy’s eyes started getting teary, “It’s just… it seems that I can’t help but keep losing those dear to me, first Desti, now One-shot Wren… is there something wrong with me? What is it that I’m doing wrong? Why am I such a mess?” put her hands on her face and started sobbing into them, “Oh nooo…” even Mario could not make a funny retort to that, he scrambled his pea-sized brain searching for a good retort to that… “Hey don’t say that Meggy! You’re an amazing person! You’re good at the ink gun thing and taught me how to do it very well even though I sucked at it!”, Meggy stopped sobbing and peeked at mario without lifting her face from her hands. “Also, you’re always there to prevent me from making everything worse? If we see it that way you’ve saved all our lives from me at least 10 times!” Meggy chuckled a bit, looking at Mario as he scrambled to keep the encouragement going. “And, and, when those Nintendo meanies came after me you fought tooth and nail to save me from them! If I hadn’t met you, I wouldn’t be me anymore!” memories started to rush in Meggy’s memories, validating all of what Mario was saying, but she couldn’t even consider them as she saw Mario trying so hard to cheer her up he forgot to keep being his silly self, “and, and—” Mario was interrupted by Meggy hugging him, he didn’t know what to do anymore, “Thank you Red, for being here with me”.
The two separated, Mario was disoriented and tired as this was the most he’s had to think in a long time until Meggy broke the silence, “say, red..” until she herself was interrupted by a flying flyer that landed on her lap, her eyes grew bigger and bigger as she read it. “This is it! Look Red! If we enter this racing competition, I can make up for everything, I can bring Desti back!”, Mario jumped happily at the news “Oh boy!”. While he did Meggy kept reading and her face turned a very notable red, “It says that it has to be in couples and the couples… well I don’t have anyone like that but I think that I could only do it if it was with you… what’d ya say Red, can you help me once again?” Desti said as she looked intently at Mario, a fire lit under her eyes, “Let’s a go!” hollered Mario as the two started heading to the castle’s garage to begin the creation of the greatest car they could make “You’re going to be the driver Mario so you better don’t get crazy like always!”, “Naah”.

Vessel: The road champion. A racing car put together putting together Meggy’s daredevil tendencies and skills and Mario’s wild creativity and impulsiveness. Mario stacked it with so many stupid bizarre features that Meggy is scared the car will blow up every time they start a race.
