Description

I made more aliens omg. Or rather, demon things.

So I had this idea for these shadowy demons with mask-like faces called Identity Thieves, and the literally steal and feed off of identities because they don’t have identities of their own. They’re pretty calm, docile creatures and really only target people who are dying, but like anything there can be vicious, mean ones that attack without provocation. I imagine a small few of them choose a victim and slowly siphon their identity away from them over the course of years, slowly making their prey feel less and less themselves. Almost like there’s something important missing.

I love your Alchemy work; it's so detailed and has an absolutely lovely style to it. The flow of this alien / demonic creature goes really well with its overall design. Your use of grayscale has a fantastic effect on this, like how the tips of those elongated horns darken the farther out they go, and the little "crack"-like details amongst their lighter parts. In the latter half of the design it reminds me a bit of the mechanical, as does the circular area above - which was a gorgeous touch to it by the way. It adds that extra set of flair to the overall piece, definitely. Do the symbols mean anything in particular out of curiosity? I like how you've even added a bit of light "cracking" to the very top, where the dark, flat piece is. Everything really just adds to this overall look you've got going on, and you do such lovely work. :'D Nice job!

Thank you, Ryxe! Your comments mean a lot to me.

The symbols caught in an identity thief's hollow eye are actually a physical representation of all the identities it has eaten or is eating, sort of rolled up into one physical attribute. The rune actually appears to be etched into the fabric of reality itself. It glows and drops golden light like a cut wound, and these golden tears eventually carve the other cracks and designs you see into the creature's face. When an identity thief is in torpor the rune fades back into itself and disappears and the creature becomes inert, easily mistaken for some sort of ancient, ornate mask made my human hands.

That is really lovely and detailed. Thank you for the explanation! I like how their lack of the rune ties into their mask-like appearance, and what the rune is supposed to symbolize in general. You always have such lovely concepts. :)
