I always figured that the pegasi in the Season 5 finale would, instead of the spears used by the rest of the royal guard, use knives to maintain maneuverability. They would have these high speed aerial knife fights sort of like dogfighting.I got the idea that maybe that's how Dash lost her wing, she got ambushed by a group of enemy pegasi and her left wing was wounded, but being Dash, she was still able to fight the rest of them off from the ground. The wing was too badly injured to save, so it was replaced with the metal prosthetic.
This is my new record for the longest I've spent on a drawing, I really need to try to draw faster.
Also, I have no idea how to draw mountains.

I kinda got the impression that it was a partial prosthetic. Like maybe it was a magic burn that meant she couldn't grow feathers anymore on it. Mostly because its really hard to imagine they've actually got amazing full prosthetics. nice art btw

Ya, I was thinking that the main structure of her wing would still be there, just the bones past the joint would be replaced with metal. I like your burn idea, that would explain why the feathers are gone, but she keeps the structure of the wing so they wouldn't have to figure out how to move the prosthetic. That would probably be pretty much impossible. (although I still love this picture: lachlan765.deviantart.com/art/… even if it wouldn't work.)

that's pretty good. but yeah I've a hard time imagining how that could possibly work without being hooked up somewhere. Really I do kinda wonder about the full intended damage in that episode. I got the feeling that maybe a trap (that boulder) was set up just for her, but luckily she has others looking out for her. This idea that she might be a poster mare for the war and valued fighter so they cant afford to lose her. Headcanon is she took that damage doing something really important, like maybe taking a blast personally from Sombra to protect Celestia at one point. Maybe early on when she had her guard down trying to negotiate peace.
