Why isn't there more art for Rufio?!  I mean look at him, looks so fucking badass!  But I can not see him being voiced by Dante Basco, that voice and that brawn just don't mix, despite him having the same Zuko look on his right eye(even if it isn't burnt)...Steve Blum, Steven Barr, Freddie Prince Jr(maybe, he voiced Vega in ME3, and he was quite buff)

Well, Rufio is my OC, and no one really wants to draw him for me...but lol, as for a voice actor... Jeff Bennet comes to mind. He's Brooklyn from Gargoyles, and a sort of gruffer darker version of that would be awesome for Rufio.

I love the design for the male griffon. I like his mohawk, beak, and his epaulettes. The background is neat too. The mountains and sky look good, though the perspective on the river is a bit off.

Good job on this!

This is an excellent artwork, and I am very happy how it came out. The background brings the piece together, you did an excellent job with it.

Oh, and Rufio is absolutely AWESOME

If you want, I can submit this to some DA groups, to get you some publicity

Dembai In reply to Birdco [2012-03-03 12:29:24 +0000 UTC]

I've tried submitting it to MLP-FiM and Bronies and MLPsoawesome.

Still waiting on them. If you know any others, that would be really cool, though! (you should have seen me fussing around trying to figure out how to submit to those ones. XD)

And I'm so glad you like it. x3 I've been very nervous about it, while it's not the first commission I've done, it's been over 2 years since I've done one - and that one was rejected by the commissioner. Very disheartening. So again, I'm VERY glad you like it!

Birdco In reply to Dembai [2012-03-03 13:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, It wasn't like I didn't know what I was getting. I've become very familiar with your art style, and I had a pretty good Idea what you would come up with when I made the request. Watching the live stream was fun as well.

When I make a request, or a commission, I try to make my requirements as general as possible. I think the more creative freedom the artist has in the work, the more personally invested they are in it, and the better the output.

I also think art should be enjoyable for people. A lot of requirements on a commission or request can quickly make what could have been a fun art exercise into a stressful situation.

I also try to pair my requests with the artist. I don't make a request until I get a good feel for their art style, and what they are strong, and weak in.

You do epic pictures very well... That's why I came to you with this request.

I have a couple of smaller groups I frequent that I will submit this to. And, if my story gets picked up by EqD, I will use this as a cover image when I finish chapter 5 and 6 (I'm splitting Kayleigh's chapter into two... it was getting way to long)

Also, I have another commission idea for you when you feel up for it. I figure you want some time to decompress and pursue your own artistic endeavors, but if you are looking for something to draw, let me know

Dembai In reply to Birdco [2012-03-03 14:41:32 +0000 UTC]

There's a few simple pieces I want to do, but my current stress is over perfecting exactly what I should be setting my commissions at, and then, how many I should offer at once (I'm going to probably...maybe just do one at a time? That way the commissioner knows that I'm not delaying their art?)

::headdesk:: This would be much easier if they hadn't changed my meds - I'm so nervous all the time now, and I'm not sure if I'm second guessing myself because I SHOULD be, or because I'm just terrified of everything.

Birdco In reply to Dembai [2012-03-03 14:56:56 +0000 UTC]

My advice, Start out with one commission at a time until you get a feeling on how it is working for you. You can keep other requestors in mind if you get requests while working on a commission, then contact them again once you are finished to see if they are still interested.

I think you can probably get away with $15-20 per character at the level of detail you put into your character drawings, and a slight discount on additional characters. For background, I think you could charge between $10 and $20 for the detail you put into this one. In general, commissioners are more interested in paying for the characters vice background.

My advice is to put out a price, check the response, and adjust the price as necessary in response to demand. (if you get 10 requests at a certain price... you could probably increase the price slightly, if you only get one, it's probably a bit steep)
Your artwork is very good, and I think many people would be willing to pay you for it.

Of course, I've never taken commissions, so I'm just guessing on price, based on what I think is fair.

That's good advice. It's nice to have some clear ideas - my brony buddies from my home brony thread are even less experienced than I in these matters.

And yes I will definitely be doing only one at a time. More would stress me out just way too much.

Thank you again, Birdco.
