Description Octavia notices Vinyl staring at a bunch of mistletoe that someone put up. What happens next, I wonder?

I'm pretty sure Derpy is my pony counterpart. The fully derped version, of course. x3

To be honest, I think Derpy is in all of us. She's usually me in the morning, between the time my alarm goes of for the first round of a 10 round snooze fight, to the time I can intake some caffeine. I always wonder "I don't know what went wrong???"

Well I actually have very little depth perception (none atm, but apparently that's a common pregnancy complication) - so the whole walking into shit all the freaking time, and being totally unaware where my body is...

But I liked her good natured pov, where she clearly loves everyone around her and genuinely wants to be a productive member of society. All around, she's very much a satisfying fit for me.

MY wife give me so much crap about my klutziness, I understand your "depth perception" issue...I have decent perception, I'm just an idiot sometimes.

Derpy is proof of the MLP spirit: love everybody, try to make the world a better place, that's all we want.

Actually, I think that might be part of the draw of the show itself: its the world that we as civilized people want to see. No strife, no hunger, just people willing to help one another.

Not just willing, but ERNEST. The idea that people can do what they want, have fun, and be supported the whole time is really what gets me.

I think for a long, long time, especially for men, but also for women, we've been told to keep our distance from everyone, especially our friends. Part of this is the anti-homosexual sentiment, but much of it is also the "independence equals strength" that sort of came out of the 80's, where you have this idea of "self-made people" who do everything on their own, and that's what makes them successful and admired.

To have that challenged in such a radical way, where everyone has a support base, and can feel included and loved and STILL do what they want with their lives, and BE SUCESSFUL...I can see where the whole "a man is an island" thing has just been pitched by the wayside - no one wants that anymore. They WANT friends. They WANT support.

And not only that, but other bronies want that as well.

So suddenly friendship, the pure full-loving sort, has come exploding back onto the scene in a very real way that hasn't been around (in my mind) since the 1940's.

To me, that a TV show with pastel ponies has broken that dam of men being emotional and loving towards each other...is nothing short of a miracle.

But yeah. Now I'm ranting.

I might just copypaste this into a journal at some point.

Agreed. I love the idea that a cartoon, developed by the culture-forming Lauren Faust, focused it on little kids, but felt free to run with allowing the story to appeal to older adults as well.

I have 3 boys, all of them love MLP. I'm not concerned about them "turning gay" or whatever. I feel that the stigma society has placed on even certain color styles has no bearing on the orientation of a person. Plus, I believe you are born gay, so if one of my boys comes out one day, whatever, I'll love em the same.

I just read an awesome article EQD posted, the one from the Belgium Newspaper, that pretty much sums up my life and MLP rather nicely. I enjoy A) freaking out others with my pony-covered computer and B) that I'm not ashamed to do it, LOL.

Yeah, totally copypasta your rant there. It was a nice point!

lol, I guess ponies aren't allergic to mistletoe? They're supposed to be poisonous to humans at least. Maybe it's like Pony rufies? o.o
