The festival is where owners of alpacas shear them and then enter them in a contest. There is also the exhibition of the fluff that has been taken from the animals, and the selling of it. My mom was there demonstrating spinning on a spinning wheel, as well as buying a lot of the alpaca fiber.
the fiber of alpaca's is much softer than lamb's wool.
