Teru teru bōzu (Japanese: 照る照る坊主、てるてる坊主; literally "shine shine monk") is a little traditional handmade doll made of white paper or cloth that Japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window by a string. In shape and construction they are essentially identical to ghost dolls, such as those made at Halloween. This amulet is supposed to have magical powers to bring good weather and to stop or prevent a rainy day. I made these teru teru bozu for September Contest. The theme this month is "Harry Potter". I thought it would be fun to make these little guys because they would be perfect to hang up for October.
I made Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Everyone's favorite trio. Harry's glasses and scar and hand embroidered. Please enjoy and wish me luck!

We made the rainy versions of these a few weeks ago in my Japanese Culture Club. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter, but these little guys are just too cute!

It's orange. If he had blond hair I would have used yellow felt. I used a light orange felt.
